I've been away from EVE for about 8 years and it seems the requirements for command ships has changed. I no longer have the reqs for the command ship skill but have already it trained to IV.

I wanna know if i can still fly one before i go ahead and buy an absolution. If not its an 18 day train Sad

I didn't lose my ability to fly Damnation because I didn't have Wing Command 4 after the Ascension patch. The requirements are the Command ship skill and Amarr battlecruiser 5 - doesn't matter if the prerequisites change if you already have the requirements.

Safest bet is login to Singularity and try it.

If you have implanted the skill book in your clone, you can fly the hull. Pre-reqs have changed over the years, but they never deny you from flying a hull you already had a skill for.

You can.

The requirements for the Command Ship skill are required to inject the skill only. If it's already injected, it's pre-reqs don't matter at all.

The battlecruiser skill and the command ship skill are independent. My Orca pilot trained command ships a while back but never got around to training battlecruiser level 5 so he can't fly any of the command ships even though he has the command ship skill.

I don't have prerequisite skills (all of the command skills that is) fly a command ship and i fly one all the time. Works just fine.

Can you fly a command ship where you don't have the racial battlecruiser skill at level 5?

No.

Requires skills:
* Primary: Racial Battlcruiser 5
* Secondary: Command Ships 1

Pretty typical for T2 ships.

Only the prerequisites to inject Command Ships changed.

Beside the Command Ship skill itself, each Command Ship will continue to require its corresponding Racial Battlecruiser skill at level 5. No other changes are currently planned for the Command Ship prerequisites (there have been a few test versions of the skill requirements on the test servers in recent weeks but the information in this thread is the most up-to-date version of the design).
