The cake is a lie

I've started playing Eve online several years ago. And it was my personal "wet dream" of a space game.

I'm the peaceful guy. Mining Roids while listening to music or read a book was the perfect ending after a stressful day of work.

Oh you know what's coming next? Another baby crying about injustice? Than, by gods sake, leave. No one can help you anymore. For all others: I would appreciate it, if you keep reading.

So Highsec was the perfect place for me. I never would earn great amounts of ISK's like other would do in LowSec, NullSec or SoV. But that was totally okay for me. Because the danger was high out there. More risk, more profit.

I don't need that. I just want to relax. So ya, Highsec was the perfect place for me.

You just had so be aware of some simple rules like "don't mine in a can when you're alone" for don't get annoyed or robbed by some Griefers. And better split cargo and fly 2-3 times to Jita instead of one big run, so to prevent getting ganked.

Absolutley fine, simple rules. And as long as you respected them, you're safe.

For my opinion: A perfect deal. All those who want bloodshet, war and action, there are 3 big areas (Low, Null and SoV) where they can beat up each other until they loose everything.

And for those who just want to relax after work ... there was the Highsec. Low earnings, the price for peace.

Than someday, it changed. Slightley first. People who steal your loot and pluinder your stuff while you are flying a mission. Pesky little rats ... but still not really bad.

Than it changed more. Ganking did become a sport. So it was possible to become ganked, not because of your cargo, but because of the ship you fly. So you had to be careful when flying special ships in Highsec.

That was allready very annoying, since sometimes it could happen that your Hulk gets ganked. Just because it's a expensive ship.

And than, everything become totally worse with the appearence of the New Order/The Code. Ganking went from a sport, to something very stupid: Ganking just simple everything just to **** off and annoy people who want their peace. No really sense behind that, just the goal to **** off players.

I don't know how many posts in the forum i did read where Gankers tried to explain why they do what they do. But i know that all of this was pretty just sharkshit. There is absolutley no reason to **** of players who are no danger at all and doesn't interfer with anyone. It's just criminal. Nothing else. It's like raiding a village during a war. Their is NO excuse for such unsocial bad ass behaviour.

And it's not even realistic. Because in real life, someone who always kills innocent people again and again, will get hunted down, jailed or even killed. What do you think if a murderer of a small kid would tell the press "I just did this to teach kids they live in a dangerous world?" ... people would hate him, flame him to hell.

But not in Eve. In Eve it's a sport to **** off innocent players.

Why i'm telling you this? Because today i once again logged into Eve online and was once again faced to the question, if all this **** is still worth it. And faced again the fact, that once a great game for peaceful players, turned into a big sack of ****.
At least for someone who prefers to live in the Highsec.

"Move to LowSec or NullSec" they told me. "It's savier there than Highsec". Ye, maybe thats true. But fact is fact: I'm no PvP Player. And when i started playing Eve, CCP promised players like me "There's a place for you. Not very big, not valuable, but you will be 90% safe from getting shot. "Okay, i can live with that" i said, and started playing.

Today, CCP broke with the promise. Someday someone decided that Eve hast to be PvP only. Something i will never understand. Because there were allready so much features, places and spots for PvP loving players to have fun. So why was it necessary to take away the last peaceful spot of Eden?

Well, and while i faced again all this thougts, i become aware of a new Post from CCP. "The 8 Golden Rules for EvE online".

So i did read them, and noticed how they have changed about the years. I'e read stuff like:

* You are not safe in 1.0 security space. CONCORD is there to punish, not to protect. Get used to the idea.
* In most cases, the only way to be 100% safe from aggression inside the game is to be docked in a station. Being cloaked in a secret safespot could work too.
* Scamming and unethical behavior some would consider griefing is not only allowed, it is encouraged and rewarded by the game mechanics.

And my little hope that there will be someday, somewhere once again a place for players who just want their peace in Eden, broke into little pieces.

Especially that one:

* Scamming and unethical behavior some would consider griefing is not only allowed, it is encouraged and rewarded by the game mechanics.

... has done me.

And i still can't believe it. We allready live in a world of ****, with bloodshet, injustice and Scam of every kind. So when i put on my pc to play a game, i want to leave all this behind me for a little while. So i will never understand while a game has to reward such behaviour.

So ya. Looks like that's it for me. Eve will never become fair like it initially was. And like it was promised in the beginning.
(And yes, you can't call the actual Ganking mechanics "fair" ... they're absolutley unrealistic.)

Leavig this game, breaks my heart, for i had some wonderful years here. And sadly there is actually no alternative game like this out here. But i can't any longer withstand the fact, how Eve and the Highsec looks like to be a Bootcamp for assholes. Learn to be a prick, or leave.

Well, i will leave.

Farewell.

The first two replies sum it all up.

Best of luck finding a new game. There are plenty out there that will offer you the no risk/no competition illusion of progression you appear to be seeking. Perhaps there though, you will respect the forum rules and say your goodbyes in the correct place.

3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

33. "Quitting" posts are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience channel.

CCP recognize that during the course of gameplay a lot of friendships are made between players and that sometimes if a player is taking a break or departing from the EVE universe that they would like to say goodbye on the forums. Posts of this nature are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience forum, and must be civil and well worded.
