From what I have read and calculated, as an Alpha I can mine about 1500m3 in the 15 min I have before Sleepers spawn. Based on current rates, that makes at least 6m isk. So if I can find and survive one site every 1.5 hr I can make more than HS ore and have a bit more of an exciting time too.

Am I missing anything? It looks like on a good day I could make nearly 30m an hour without going to a C5 or C6.

Ninja huffing is also something you can do in a Venture as an Alpha, IIRC you can use the Gas Cloud Harvester 1 and it may have better returns.

Same idea but going for the gas in WH's rather than the ore. I'm assuming that you've already figured out that avoiding the residents is just as important as beating it before the sleepers turn up.

I just noticed I mispelled gas in the title, working off phone, but yes that is exactly what I am asking about. I just want to make sure I am on the right track. It looks like 25m for book and maybe 5m for fit so I didn't want to waste time and isk on a misplaced decimal point.

Yep you're on the right track, bear in mind that as an alpha you can't use a cloak which makes you a little vulnerable.

Your estimated income figure is probably on the low end, Fuzzy Steve has a tool that tells you how much a Venture full of each is worth here.

1) The 25m for the book and 5 m for fit is a little high, the book is 24m from NPCs and the harvesters are just over 2m apiece so unless you have a much more expensive MWD then you should then it should be about 29m in total and that million may matter (it will buy you a new venture or 4).
2) I suggest either a C1 or a C5 black hole system as those seem to be pretty much abandoned in my experience. Another thing is to try to not use a system with a high sec static as that is where all the explorer hunters live and despite the difference between a venture and a heron, someone with a double scram astero will still kill you very quickly.
3) the best vessal to use to take your stuff to jita is your venture, it aligns very fast and is hard for an arty thrasher to one shot if you fit a medium shield extender. (I suspect that if you have an adaptive invuln and or a it will be impossible for a single thrasher to one shot you)
4) make sure you use an MWD on the venture, you warp into a site 30-80 km from the clouds.
5) check which site you found and don't go to the ordinary perimeter reservoir, it has sentries that will hit for ~2900 damage and one shot any reasonable venture and even if it does not will kill you long before you get any gas.
6) the token perimeter reservoir is barely worth doing even with blue loot.
7) unless players show up or the NPCs neut you out completely you can always warp out.
8) mine while aligned to a safe and at the very center of the cloud, this will mean that people can not get close while cloaked and you can be gone in something like 4.7 seconds which is faster then anything besides a stealth bomber can lock you after decloaking.
9) preferably find a corp with a wormhole citadel and go live there, it's slightly easier to warp to and woe betide the stealth bomber that lets an astrahaus lock them. It also means that you can have a slightly bigger ship there (I use a rapid light missile caracal) and just come back to easier sites (anything without battleships probably though the most I have tested with is 2 cruisers and 3 frigates and they were not even close to breaking the tank even without using my shield booster) and blue loot is the next best thing to liquid isk due to it's miniscule cargo size and NPC buy orders.
