We haven't been contacted because of stupid. The more people you put together in a single place, the lower the IQ gets. Now think of 6+ billion people...

or MAYBE they justb realized in their infinite ability to RESEARCH that we all have shitloads of nukes, and only arent commiting nuclear-holocaust on eachother because we realize we'd kill ourselves too, but that if we saw a FOREIGN entity invading from a location that nuking WOULDNT hurt us (ie space) we would NUKE THE HELL OUT FO IT, OR AT LEAST TRY... hoenstly, only 2 types of civilizations will ever explore sapce in great effort...

those that wish solely for exploration as a means of satisfying some scientific opbsession of understanding, and those that ran out of things to kill on their own planet, so they gotta go find more.

the first of the two would NEVER talk with humans, ebcause were ready to kill eachother just on color of skin or nationality, imagine if we met ALIENS (not only that, but humans are so butthurt in denial they wont even admit that dolphins and whales are not only sentient, but more intelligent then the average human)

the second of the 2, if ever finding us, we would never know it because they would just sit outside our ability to detect them, and VAPORIZE our freaking civilization...

face it, no one alive today will EVER meet aliens, because humans are boring, arrogant, narcissistic, and frankly are just looking for a reason to shoot something.

the reason i listed the prior 2 civilizations as the only models for civilizations that would explore space, are because those are the only 2 that would give REASON to, any other civilization would either be too busy fighting eachother, worrying about a bottom line, or just failing at existing to even bother with space.

I know a friend that works for a think tank researching ideas of a specific tone. (have to be vague on purpose)

He once confided me with a train of thought that began to ascertain that all evolved species are ruled by two primordial instincts. Reproduction and Survival.

Problem lies that there comes a point in evolution where all the evolved species can produce artificially food for survival (and beyond it) and endless amounts of reproduction channeling impulses material (porn for example, or casual sex)

So, the more evolved, the more we eat processed foods that gorge us and the more we lose our time with recreational activities that have their basis on reproduction alone, eventually surpassing all other needs of a creative or intellectual nature.

In a sense, all evolved beings in the galaxy were, are or will be too busy eating fast food and watching porn until they implode into oblivion despite all of their advancements.

Big smile

So he concluded that it's totally wasteful for the gross bulk of the population to even bother about other forms of life, and in a sense this applies to all other evolved species. So there will never be an official contact of any form.

I proceeded to slap him in the face after he told me that. He just laughed.

True story.

I also bask in the chaos of this thread!

Sounds like ancient Rome before the collapse.Big smile

While I agree with your friend, what he is describing is more akin to a social aspect of intelligent civilization. I once asked a friend (probably of the same "think-tank" Cool) what he thought is the end product of evolution. His answer: "a species that can thwart it."

While food and sex may be essential for survival, those basic drives may change when survival dictates something different in order for the species to continue.

Is Intelligence invariably fatal?

Name a shrub after me.  Something prickly and hard to eradicate.
