Hello!

I'm just dropping by to post this mining calculator and get some feedback. Also tell me if this is a wrong place for this kind of thread.

MiningCalcSpreadsheet

I'ts made in google spreadsheets and you have 2 pages in it.

1.sheet = Mining volume per hour calc
Here you can input your lasers data. (cycle time, volume mined per cycle, amount of time lost (relocking and docking))
You can do this for 30 ships (for calculating output/hour of multiple ships),

2.sheet= Mining price / refining calculator
This one gives you more options.
One option is you input prices for OREs avalible in your system to decide which one is best to mine. You can also input all of your ore prices just for the heck of it.
If you input your skills and station info you will also see if it is better to refine the ores or just sell them.

I will implement also ICE price and refining calculator, compressed ore refinig calculator and custom amount of ore price/refining price calculator.

I would like to hear any constructive criticism or advice you have so I can make this better. Thanks!

!!! THE FILE I SAVED WAS THE WRONG VERSION AND I LOST THE BACKUP. I'LL START FROM BEGINING AND REWORK THE CALC!!!

First, if you intend to compare isk/hr of the different ores, take into consideration that Mercoxit mines at a different rate than other ores.

Second, you should add another column for compressed ore. Often this can be a solid option for selling your ore.

Other than that, you have most of the basics that others overlook.

I have this excel spreadsheet that has a bit of VB in it, displaying when to deactivate your lasers as an image. Ex. 2 cycles and 20% shown as text, and a circle with a clock arm inside pointing to 20%. I can configure it to multiple lasers on the asteriod (eg, 3 hulks, with varying skills... all focusing fire on a 100,000 unit veldspar asteroid.) or with multiple single laser asteroid targets.

Early on, it was a nifty thing to have.. but as my mining accounts piled up I started missing the timers and the lasers cycled out even after I was still placing values in the worksheet.

There's also a hauling aspect to mining, so maybe you can make one for a freighter or (tanked!) orca with estimates on haul time and isk per haul. Then you can compare it to contracting redfrog or push...

edit: haha, I even VB'ed a partial cycle thingie into my worksheet. Say your orehold is almost full and you're mining this type asteroid... place in your current orehold value, and viola! It will return the circle with a % pointer to fill out your remaining hold!

Ah.. the things we do while mining.
