Hi,

I am the most stupid new player because I just destroyed about 1.4bn by accident.

I started EVE on November 24th and have been playing it since then ferociously. I started salvaging and doing some industry building rigs.
I also placed some buy orders and was trying to update those buy orders. Today I made the biggest mistake of my EVE-live so far. While modifying the price for Armor plates, I deleted the comma and therefore increasing my buy-order by the factor of 100.
Immediately I had to pay 789 million in market escrow and 45 million in brokers fees. I couldn’t delete my order, because it was blocked from modifying for 5 minutes.

I tried to transfer all my remaining ISK to an alt, but already two buyers bought the armor plates for 1.2 billion and 240 million.
I lost a total of 1.482.682.813 ISK.

I have 4 days left on my OMEGA account, then I will fall back to Alpha status.

I am the most stupid player on EVE.

Why did you delete the comma?

I never did anything so dumb.

I've got 3 trillion isk now.

I guess comma-deleters just aren't cut out for EVE.

Everyone should send this guy their armour plates.

Not out of benevolence, but because he might do this again!

Cheers for owning up to it, OP!

I screwed up a decimal point on an order once and payed 80 million in brokerage fees for nothing. No, it wasn't nearly what you lost, but I only had like 85 mil to my name, so....

i bet you'll be checking them orders 4 times at least before you hit accept Roll

on that note, had a mate buy 100 T2 webs costing him a little over 200 mil, he forgot he wasn't on sisi lol

he was a new guy and had about 300 mil to his name, the rage was real, the salt jars over flowed,
well for at least 2 hours, then he calmed down and now,,,, he checks himself before he wreckts himself. RollBig smile

I recently bought a very nice shuttle

For 200 mill.

Was pissed about it and started scoping out the client for retribution
but his bio was cheeky enough to make me chuckle dispite my anger something like

Nice shuttle?
I'm glad you like it.

at least the webs were at a fair price and he could turn around and sell them back to get most of the isk back. might even profit depending on circumstances.

I did a similar thing when I was a noob back in 2004 I sent a petition and I was refunded. Give it a try and see how it goes buddy, I think it will be ok.

Thanks, everyone for your encouraging words.

The whole thing really was a good (and expensive) lessen for me.

I can explain how it happened. I had a buy order of about 1000 armor plates on the market. I had it at a price of 15950,01 per piece. Someone else raised the price to 15951,00 ISK. (+0,99) So I tried to raise my original price by 1,00. I marked the "0" in front of the comma and put in "1" instead of it. What I didn´t notice was, that I didn’t mark just the "0" but "0," instead. So, when I pressed the "1“, I deleted the "," and the price rose by 2 decimals.

Is there really a chance to petition it?
It was my own stupid mistake, CCP did do nothing wrong.

I mean... I´d gladly take the ISK if CCP were to reimburse me... but there is no way that I can claim with good conscience that it is somehow someone else’s fault.

I can´t even blame the two people who filled the buy order. All I can do is to appeal to their mercy and hope that they give me back a part of it... but that is up to them.

The one who got the 242 million already indicated that he will give me back 200 million. I haven´t heard from to other one.

In earnest question: Does Eve client accept commas as decimal points? In US . is decimal point, in Euro , is. Right? Eve will take either?

Did you fall for an ISK-doubling scam in Jita? If not, pretty sure you're not in the 0.1%...

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

I think it defaults to the system settings
