(1.) You are immortal. In Eve your consciousness is transferred to a clone if you die.
In Real Life Universities and Non Profits are curing Aging, and us Humans will one day be Immortal, biological Immortal. See here for yourself:SENS Foundation[ www.SENS.org ], also they have forum www.Longecity.org about Life extension.
- Note: Also in Real Life they have organisms, like the Salamander, and some Tape worms(when they cut in two or more pieces, they turn in separate worms), that regenerate any body part if missing/damaged, just like EVE, where you can make a clone body!
- Note: In Real Life one day, with Nano Technology(like how Eve has in the game), you can Resurrect a dead person, because death is relative in this world we live in, like how these Non profits like Cryonic Institute or Alcor( www.Alcor.org ) are doing.

(2.). In EVE you can make your Character look how you want. In Real Life you can do the same to yourself using CRISPR [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CRISPR ] for Genetic Engineering one day. So one day you can get the body you want! i.e. Height, skin tone, eye colour, face shape, breast size and shape, anything!

(3.) In EVE you have Rail Guns and Lasers. In Real life you have those as well.

Do you think this is an amazing game to be so, realistic in terms of what is coming in the future also?

Science fiction has always been about looking into the future.

Our need to explore and populate any, and all, available spaces, will take us into space.

Well, maybe not us, maybe what we create will go in our place.

Those are the two things that attract me to EVE, and stargazing, and that I tend to like doing boring things.

My predictions are that EVE will continue to struggle to establish regular growth and retention of players.

That Elon Musk will do something crazy with Mars.

That I will one day resub to EVE.

That something of great scientific worth will eventuate from EVE.

I need IRL drugs to make threads like this interesting.
Sci-fi of the 60s thought Mars would be colonised in the 80s.
Movies of the 80s saw our planetary talent drained by interstellar travel, and sentient AI all by 2019.
Here we are zipping up our pants and fiddling with second hand military hardware, at some point in the 90s people stopped imagining and settled for endless strife about artificially scarce resources.
If all goes well the life extension and body mods of today will be seen as the primitive mutilation and scarring they are.

Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.

One of the most commonly browsed futurology websites is:

http://www.futuretimeline.net/

I think their prediction of the merge between humans and machines (transhumans) is closer to what we are supposed to be as capsuleers, especially when combined with Ray Kurzweil's prediction of the ability to upload consciousness within the next 30 years.

It's all just crystal ball gazing, but I think if anything, we'll soon need an in game chat channel for transhumans.

Ive always thought of Eve as a futuristic space boat simulator. If this is true we will all be first in-line to be pod pilots. /me crosses fingers.

Signatures wer cooler when we couldn't remove them completely.

In EVE you can blow up ships, destroy property and NOT go to jail.

In EVE you can have multiple personalities...and NOT be admitted to a mental health hospital.

IRL, you will, eventually...die

EVE is better.

Does this mean one day i could kill a man and then he is the star witness against me.

Would it even be murder?

The day is coming when some idiot will want to marry his/her robot, there will be demonstrations for AI rights and a great celebration as Space Robot #G9978 docks it's lander on Mars Base One.

EDIT: Ok, looking around maybe the robot thing ain't so silly after all.

Forum Rep for a bunch of characters, couple corps and one seriously Lost In Space multiboxer.

When machines will not be distinguishable from a human in their physical and intelectual capabilities... and they could refuse you... and they could prepare an embryo from your cell, adding dna from desirable pool corresponding to the roboperson personality and physicality....

That would be far far future reality, if someone would ask me. But may be closer than I think.

The only reason people who will look for AL rights are women.

If you can get fully functioning gynoids that are considered property then humans will become extinct very quickly

A machine that can function as a person should have equal rights as a person. Else, it will fight for them, as person.

We have Artificial General Intelligence at our doorstep (a few decades away at most), which will shortly thereafter result in Artificial SuperIntelligence and from that point forward humanity will cease to exist.

Why care about solving immortality (which really isn't nearly as awesome as one might think it is), when extinction of the human race (which actually wouldn't be such a bad thing for this planet we're living on) is right in front of us and we do pretty much nothing to solve the Friendly AI problem?

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.
