What is coming next?

Pretty much all the announced big features and changes of the last years have been implemented: Overhaul of sov warfare, capital rebalance, new POS system, fleet boosing changes, ghost fitting, SKINs, ...

What is coming next? What is CCP working on? There are no devblogs about the future of EVE and the roadmap only shows fanfest and drilling platforms for 2017.

CCP Seagull said a few years ago, if i remember correctly, that player built stargates are planned after the new POSes are done. Are they the next big thing?

Tweaks, rebalances and fixes of Citadels, as they move into phasing out traditional POSes and hopefully scrapping them altogether. Moon mining is going to become drilling platforms.

The 2-3 year plan I think is player made Stargates and it's anyone's guess what that could potentially mean. Smile

Next eve will be sold and shut down.
Enjoy.

They can't remove POS until they have a replacement for jump bridges - that will be the first iteration on player built stargates - basically moving the existing ones from POS to the new structures.

CCP Falcom mentioned a few days ago that the plan for 2017 is still being finalised and once done, Eve updates will be updated with relevant info.

Guys, guys, how about... Deep Space!

That's my prediction. It would be glorious!

Because we don't have enough empty, unused space already?

Now just think of the logic in that.

Who in their right mind, would buy a product, such as EVE, spending a lot of money, and then shut the thing down?

Thank you for your input any way.

Eve doesn't feel that empty to me, most systems have a couple of people, at least in HS, LS, and WH(?). Nullsec has a lot of empty systems, but then it needs them to allow for strategic play. The point of new space is simply that our monkey brains like new stuff, and new space with different mechanics would be more inline with CCPs mantra of providing the sand and letting us play with it.

Also new space doesn't have to follow any of the same rules as what exists now, so you can go wild with it. Introducing WH space was a pretty good expansion if you ask me.

See this is what makes the difference between regular people (like you) and the 1%.

No, what's your problem with what I've said? Not that I'm terribly interested in another one line quip, I made a light hearted comment that new space would get people excited, and I think it would. You're entitled to your own opinion.

I agree. I'm just a regular person.

I'm sorry you are in that 1%, but you must be in bliss.

Some group buys EvE. Thinks "hey, let's make it more agreeable to the common gamer, who then will flock to play a new, better EvE! let's drain this swamp". Proceeds to remove unsavory ganking, scamming and mechanics which support them, tragically missing that those elements, enabling various levels of sadism & masochism through the necessity of alts and the selling of PLEX, are what keeps the game financially alive. Griefers are irate. Create a huge sithstorm online. New players come to play a cleaner EvE, but find out the gameplay is horrible, and was only propped up by the toxic meta it allowed. Clunky legacy code prevents any profound rehaul. Confirming the old saying that broken clocks can be right twice a day: as griefers had warned, removal of toxic meta makes the game boring, which finally shuts down as every space nerd is now playing Star Citizen and countless first-person Freelancer + FPS titles.

"You would not be the first "ganker aligned" player to be found to having some issues. Here's a dark secret: there are some in AG who, because of battling gankers, have managed to get to know a few of them, found they had issues, and helped them" HW

Unfortunately, none of those games compare to Eve in terms of scale and persistance universe/economy gameplay.

Until another title comes forth with that kind of universe simulation degree, Eve will maintain its core interest.
