Explosions Extremely Loud and Inconsistent Since Patch

Ever since the latest patch, explosions in the game have been very loud and inconsistent in length no matter my view distance from the explosion. InB4 worn out jokes about 'EVE has SOUND?!?!?'

Sometimes, there isn't an explosion sound at all, sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's extremely loud, sometimes it plays the full explosion soundbyte, sometimes it plays half of it before abruptly cutting off, or even just playing small bits of the explosion soundbyte sporadically.

Has anyone else been having this issue since the patch or have there been any reports of this to the devs?

Looks like someone forgot to fix the file settings before reverting from the unsuccessful patch... And now the audio of explosion is just ignores the 3D :) 13 years of the game... 13 years...

It's so funny to watch CCP after 13 years still manage to break something when they are fixing something. Tells a lot about the skills of programmers.

It's brutal. I literally turned my volume down on my computer to 15 and it's just as loud as it was when it was at 40. Just random explosions, no idea how to turn off or on.

Hi folks,

We've had several bugs informing us of the issue and i'm happy to announce a fix has been made for this defect. Look to it dropping on to Tranquility just after the weekend.

As with any issue you might come across in game, please do send us a bug report. The bug report comes with not just the information you have entered, but also a copy of your logs and other system specific information that might help us be able to diagnose the problem at hand.

Or about the complexity of Tranquility.

No matter how much testing is done on SiSi, TQ is its own beast at this point, and it behaves in very different and unexpected ways.

Don't be so down on the devs, they have quite the problem child in our beloved TQ server.

To be perfectly honest, this kind of thing was tested for before we launched the new explosions a few months a go. I should know, the new explosions were tested by myself. It looks like some tinkering with the sound engine had some fall out. But as stated the fix is now in our Tranquility branch and should be heading out when we next have down time.

Things like this can be hard to catch as its a real edge case bug that wouldn't normally be tested for by the development QA's here. The changes to the engine would have been tested, but making sure that it didnt affect every single instance of audio in the game would take an incredible amount of time. This is where you guys come in, like I said before, send us bug reports and we'll get to working on them. You have my apologies for this, but come tomorrow afternoon it shouldn't be a problem anymore.
