Clone priority upon pod destruction

Hi all,

I have a small suggestion that I feel is currently needed:

Currently, when your pod destructs you are transported to your home station and land in a brand new clone.

I propose that when your pod gets destroyed and your transported to your home station you will spawn in a clone if there was one installed in that station prior to pod destruction. If there is no clone installed in that station, then you will end up in a fresh clone.

In short: If you get podded and you have a clone in your home station with implants, you will spawn in that clone with implants rather than a fresh clone.

Since you can only change your home station once every 365 days, I don't feel that there potential for wide-spread abuse of the jump clone timer. It would however give a slight advantage to people who have long term setups.

Your name... it reeks of troll.

And why can't you Jump Clone to the body with the implants?

It is only a few extra clicks.

Nah... keep the Clone and Jump Clone systems separate.

You are adding needless complexity and a potential way to bypass the Jump Clone timer.

Errr... you can only REMOTELY change your home station once per year (and only to "friendly" stations that your corporation / alliance has a presence in).

If you are docked in a particular station, you can change your "Home Station" to that one... for a small fee.

It sure is funny how a person can make a simple suggestion and there are people foaming at the mouth ready to call someone a forum troll.

Please don't contribute to my thread if you can't refrain yourself from making derogatory statements.
It's not constructive and it sure doesn't contribute anything to the community.

And you need a sense of humor. Especially with a name like "ROFLCOPTOR."

But hey... we can't all be perfect. Blink

I contributed to your idea by saying that it "adds needless complexity and a potential way to bypass the Jump Clone timer."

I also mentioned that the current system is pretty good as is.

How's that? Cool

Why?

This sounds like a wonderful way to lose your slave set, +5 set, virtue set or whatever other expensive implants the cool kids are flying with these days.

If you get podded out of a large fight you jumped into an empty clone for, and you wind up in a 1bil pod, you're not going to want to jump in a dictor and throw yourself back in, are you.

if you're going into a situation where you think you may get podded and you want new implants as soon as you respawn then just keep and extra set of implants in your home station ready to plug in when you respawn.

This smells like a troll to me as well given your name, no killboard and no corp history. That being said, as long as I can opt-out of this, knock yourself out I guess.

I can't see why I would want to use this.

Danika hit the nail on the head.

You'd have a lot of people forgetting they had implants... when you get popped in a big fight, the first thing you should do (assuming your fleet isn't withdrawing/all dead) is reship and get back into the fight.

The second-last thing you'll want to do when every second potentially counts, is stop to check and make sure you aren't in a bunch of implants. The last thing you'll want to do is have to kick off session timers while you jump out of your implants to go back into a fight.

Besides... these days... who uses stations? Citadels have no jump timers so long as it's inside the citadel already. Quick and easy. Except for the obscene session timers these days. Ugh.

2/10, try trolling harder

but seriously, why are you posting with an NPC alt with a name that looks like it was made by a 12 year old if you aren't a troll?

What gives you the right to flame a person for posting a suggestion that would at the minimum make my play style at least a little better?

For the 3rd time, if you have nothing constructive to offer on my thread, please don't post.

I can appreciate that some people would forget they have implants. The whole reason for this suggestion is that currently, I cannot use my implanted clone because I have to jump between high sec and null sec to maintain my PI approximately once a day. Because of the jump timer I cannot play in my good clones since I have to jump into an empty clone in null sec and then pod express back to high sec (ending up in a fresh clone rather than my good implant clone at that same station)

This is the reason for my suggestion of clone priority. It would be nice if there was at least an option to choose that after pod destruction, you appear in either an old or fresh clone at your home station.

Side note: I understand that citadels offer no jump timer, but I believe that you have to jump to and from a citadel. Furthermore, I don't want to store a fully implanted clone in a public citadel, because all the owner has to do is turn the clone bay on and off and then my clone gets destroyed. But this isn't really applicable to my situation since there is no public citadel available in null sec in my area of operations.

As someone who knows to jump out of his expensive clone for PvP, why should I want my medical clone to automatically jump into my expensive clone?

What if there are people who WANT to jump into their expensive clone upon death?

Maybe they need to create the option where you can set your preference in order to cater to both styles of play.

Currently, the system is one sided and supports the PvP'er. What about the other game play styles?

Just because you want something does not make it a good idea. Jump clones are a resource and a trade-off, not a free implant hot-swap. Even with Citadels you incur at least some opportunity cost with the system since you can only have one clone per Citadel.

If you want to run lots of Jump Clones in PvE then find (or set up) a system with plenty of Citadels, put jump clones in each of them, and your medical clone either in one or nearby. When you die you can fly to the citadels and swap clones to the one you want.

Also Shah's post was perfectly reasonable and quite polite, especially by the standards of these forums. He was, at worst, a little snarky with you, which is to be expected when someone is posting such a blatant "I want" idea without thinking through the consequences, like completely and easily bypassing the jump clone timer and allowing for instantaneous movement of a character with no cooldown and few restrictions.

I can appreciate what you have to offer and your thoughts make sense. There are always consequences with every action and they have to be fully thought out before implementing a change.

I personally believe that there is a cynicism in Eve towards any suggestion that can make someone's game-play a little bit easier or more productive.

With that being said, given that the current meta does support the ability to jump clones without a timer (provided its within a citadel), Perhaps a clone change is not warranted and is probably not the best use of CCP's limited resources. So I will surrender my plea for change and find a way to facilitate my current game needs.

Thanks for sharing your comments and not engaging in inflammatory conversation.

Essentially this sums up my feelings on your idea. Jump clones and your med clone are two entirely different systems and they need to be kept that way to avoid abuses. Others have given you the acceptable in game method of achieving your goal so let me give a short review.

Move your med clone close to where you spend your time, or close to where you think you are going to need it.

Keep extra sets of implants in the same station as your med clone that way no matter what implant set you want you will always be able to plug it it and go.

OK troll you can try. Those of us who have been here for more than a day or two know the rules and calling someone a troll does not violate those rules.

Setting that asidel, virtually all of the people you are complaining about have contributed to your topic. The problem here seems to be that you think contributing means that we heap praises on you for a wonderful idea and that is not how this forum works. See here you post an idea that you think would be a good addition or change to the game and we get to tell you whether we like it or not. In other words ALL comments are valid and by virtue of posting this idea you agree to us posting what we think of your idea.

Why does it matter? Surely your parents taught you that judging people by their names and appearances is wrong.
