Let's say you start some long ME research without perfect Metallurgy. While the research is still ongoing, your skill in Metallurgy increases a level. Will the job still take the same amount of time as when you started it, or will it be updated to account for gaining a skill level? I have a feeling it's the former, but I just wanted to make sure.

it's the former -- research/production time is calculated when you install the job.
