Given the upcoming focus on War in EVE. It makes sense that instead of establishments, that the first multi-player areas of Incarna should be the Corporation office, and their war rooms.

Generally, this is a room where player's can gather to plan their next war, manage intel, manage wars in progress and also interact with Dust.

Features that this are can include
Intel channels.
Scouts send their intel and scan results to the War room, the intel officer then makes decisions about what information needs to be broadcast to the rest (or just a portion) of the fleet. This information can include, fleet composition, location of assets, logistics updates. Effective management of your intel fleet allows you to disperse the 'fog or war'.

Done right, the intel area would be a fantastic addition to EVE, and should be carefully considered and implemented.

Faction warfare intel and map
In the war room. Players can access more detail on the status of Faction Warfare systems, their control, number of players, location of fleets. The upcoming update to FW should provide some opportunities to include some more features and ideas.

Dust link
The war room should be the main means by which Dust and EVE players coordinate their attacks. Look at the 'future vision' trailer for an example of how this could work. If possible, Dust players should be able to meet EVE players in the War room, so as to be part of the war planning process.

Multiuser map
A map that multiple players can log onto, annotate, draw evil red arrows, and upload intel updates, would be main feature of the war room (and would look oh so pretty).

+1.

Details need work. Region maps, sov maps, etc, all possibilities. I like the idea.

I'd be satisfied with just a fancy room with several chairs, a big table, some graphical posters (could or could not be synchronized), for people to gather at.

Add destructible stations in null sec into the mix, and you get the scenario where a siege against the enemies station becomes an additional way to disrupt their operations.

It would be really exciting. One side is calmly coordinating a distant battle from their cozy war room, when the enemies allies start lighting up cynosural fields right on their doorstep.

The available functions of the war room would probably need to be somewhat dependent on the security status of the system, so that we don't get into the situation with null sec corps waging war from their high sec war room. Might need to simple limit a war rooms influence to it's region, or constellation

Actually you could have optional upgrades for the war room that add and/or extend its functionality.

So, basically, an IRC channel that fries your graphics card whenever you use it?

*Yawn*

Wow. Someone repeating the same old exaggerated rhetoric.

Weren't you on a talk show claiming that Incarna ate your babies, stole your job, and gave you a wedgie?

You have two options. Go find somewhere else to troll, or, develop your own idea and start your own thread.

If these establishments could be extended to planets, moons, POS as well as outposts, with outposts becoming destructible, then this would be epic.

You still need lots of fleshing out tho, in terms of costs of these buildings, how they are setup (if they are not included in renting a corp office etc) and so on.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

Not emptyquoting.

Make it have a label as well, so those who want can call it the batphone.

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

Some additional ideas.

Fleet statistics and communications.
Commanders in the war room should be able to access detailed live statistics on the active fleets, ships in reserve, losses etc. Squadron leaders can also send requests for ships (logistics down, need replacement), which the comms officer can respond to (checks pilots in reserve, assigns them to fleet, transmits destination).

We'll need access to hallways first; but otherwise I think it is a superb idea. Maps and interfaces would have to be synched; even if only every 5-10 minutes or more depending on the map or interface. Faction Warfare map could be every 30 minutes for example. Anything less would be pointless.

Also, you'd need Corporate offices or Station ownership to access rooms like this; so it stands to reason hallways, elevators, Corporate Offices and Station Command Centers, (for Nullsec), then War Rooms and Strategic Command Ceters, (Nullsec Alliance equivalent of War Room.).

Yes, I agree that the War room needs to be implemented the same time as the corp office. Perhaps we should start another thread discussing features for inclusion in the corp office.

The good thing about our ideas is that they are very much in line with the upcoming theme of 'war' in EVE. It would be great if CCP added it to their plans for the next 12 months.

I would be happy with a room that dont look like my dorm room from my high school days,

I have millions of isk passing thru my wallet at any given hour and if you should believe some lore thats more than most nations not to mention that my ships have crews in the tens of thousands.

I think I could find a few able to run a mop over my quarters floors!

I don't we can or should expect to see anything like this for more than a year. There are far too many station types in EVE to allow for development to cover it that fast. Very little of CCPs resources are being directed this way currently; and the vest thing they could do with those resources is work out optimization and bug-fixing.

I like the idea, but I'll be happy if all I see is concept art this year.

edit:

Really, CCP needs to update to DirectX11 and Tesselation to fully realize CQ and WiS. DirectX11 will help to optimize graphics rendering a great deal.

I, for one, am fully in support of having maps of the surrounding area covered in sketches of genitals tactical assets hanging on my wall.

Tbf, under quite a few circumstances DX9 will push modern cards pretty hard. I've got mine setup in SLI, and I have to turn WiS off or they heat up quite badly if I sit my toons in station for too long. I can only imagine the issue would be worsened ten fold with other characters on screen with them.

The word is that since the restructure, that there are more devs working on EVE now than have been for the last few years. So personally I think it's doable. It boils down to priority. Personally since the war room would provide CCP with the opportunity to tie WiS, FiS, and Dust gameplay together in a very usefull and necessary way, I think it deserves the development time.

They need to work on a universal faction/sov color map (like the one goonswarm had with the hexagons) which you can filter things out with or in.

Then work a way for it to load independently and low pirority (meanwhile could play a premade video of the hexes that changed colors lately like the current updates in CQ) then display the entire filtered map your corp/allaice sets.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.
