As a new player, currently stuck in Japan, I'm forced to purchase Plex through NXP, hosted by NEXON. NEXON is the Japanese "game money" company Eve, I guess, is partnered with. There is literally no other way for me to upgrade to Omega, than by purchasing NXP, through NEXON. Problem is, not only is the NEXON website PURELY in japanese, but also their "For none Japanese speaking" guide is out of date (Completely new menus and the illustrations are horribly inaccurate.) and in the guide, about half way through, it informs you you'll need to download a japanese keyboard, just to complete the purchase. I don't think I've ever come across a more cumbersome game money/point/whatever store, in my gaming experience. Ever. It's to the the point I think they just don't really want to make money.

This is not a complaint about Eve. Love it. This is a complaint about their partner (?) NEXON. Trash. Please god give me another way to give Eve my money!

Buy plex off a 3rd party site. Yes you pay a few dollars ore for your eve habit sadly....


Its what I had to do for 1 the one main accountI run. CCP when they did this flicked the switch on any active account in the japan region. Stayed that way. This change seems permanent as even a VPN service...or hell being in the US as I have on vacation keeps this Nexon crap on a broadcasted US IP address.


Now oddly enough I have a 2nd account that was on ice when this happened. I fired that up recently and its acts like a good ole US account once i log in. Even account management.

Case of bad decisions by CCP here. Even Japanese people hate nexon really. Guess Nexon showed them a good time at izakaya with a side trip to some RLD's and/or soaplands if CCP made a site visit to japan to get this crap pushed really.

I'm curious as to why are you unable to buy directly from CCP?

Region locking.

When CCP wanted to make a localized client for Japan, they went through NEXCON.
The deal was, NEXCON would translate the client and maintain it... in exchange NEXCON would be the only way for people living in Asia (sans China) to buy PLEX and subscriptions.


If memory serves me right, there was a little bit of player outrage because of this.

ooooh so this explains the direction CCP has been going they have spent to much time dealing with NEXON and got infected

After speaking to a GM, I found the 3rd party sellers, and purchased 2 PLEX directly from Amazon. Huge relief, except now, nearly a day later, I still don't have the PLEX in my redeemable items, at the character selection screen. Anyone else have experience with buying 3rd party, particularly Amazon.com? Am I missing a step? I downloaded the Amazon game downloader and linked my PC and Eve account to Amazon. No idea how I can stream line this any more...
