o7 all,

i have a problem and i hope here is someone who can help me out.

i have a Geforce 750 and i got the problem that the graphics driver is often crashing which usually results in a crash of the whole pc and i have to force restart via power button. it was no problem for eve for a long time because there was the option in the graphics menu "hdr enabled". i had it unchecked and never ever got a crash, no matter what graphics setting nor how many clients i run. now this setting got removed a few updates ago and the crashes are back. technically i can reduce the possibility of those crashes by just tuning down the graphics and downclock the graphics card via msi afterburner. but first off i want to play eve in better graphics and second i don´t want to experience those crashes anymore due to obvious reasons.

does anybody of you have a solution for me?

When was the last time you updated your drivers? How old is the v-card? Could be your v-card is giving up the ghost.

You might want to consider upgrading to something newer. I went from a 650 to a 960 not long ago. The difference is impressive and it didn't break the bank.

Might be hardware like Jonas stated. I've been using a GTX660 for three years now up until early December 2016 and had no drive crash issues. My card was starting to artifact and screen tear in Eve by that point though. Check your temps (not just for graphics card), too, especially if your whole system is locking up. It's one thing if Eve ctds because of it, what ever it is, but if you're having to force restart your whole rig due to a particular graphics setting in a game on more than one occasion, then that sounds suspiciously like something's getting too hot. It could also suggest RAM getting overloaded but I doubt that since Eve isn't nearly as much a RAM hog as other game titles get to be.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I keep my drivers up to date due to me having hope NVidia fixes this problem with a driver update, current version is 376.33 the most actual one. The card might be older but it was built in into the pc when i bought it around one and a half year ago. If i would have realized it earlier i would have gone to customer support but i didn´t realize it after around 2 months after i bought the pc and started to play with higher settings (and thus checking the HDR enabled setting) and at that time i also didn´t play any other games. Also i do not really want to buy another graphics card as it is unneccessary for me.

I am kind of sure it is a driver problem. On very rare occasion not the whole rig goes black but i see a message in the taskbar "NVidia graphics driver had to be restarted due to it crashing" (or whatever, translated from german). Also a lot of other people are experiencing problems with this particular card and all report the same thing. I am using MSI Afterburner since long time to downclock the card which comes overclocked from the factory. Starting temp was 75° max and now more then a year without cleaning the fan i only hit 85° max. Acceptable temperature. The 8GB ram stick i rarley see on 100%.

I think i will try in the next days to plug in the old 640 to see if i have any problems with it...

I've been overclocking video cards for 15 years. Your 750 is not getting that much of an improvement from the overclock so just unclock it. I currently have an EVGA gtx 970 FTW+ that achieves monster overclocks...but I can't OC it for EVE at all. The game just hates it and crashes all the time. Some games are like this. Many games are like this.
Just because it overclocked before the changes doesn't mean it's going to now so just leaving it OC'd and complaining it's crashing is counter-productive to your play time. Unclock the card and see if it still crashes. If not then leave it unclocked until further changes are made that favor your situation.
Also how high have you had the voltage? Running more voltage through the card shortens its life. If you've had the voltage cranked for over a year you'll could get the same symptoms. Black screens and hanging.

Well the card comes overclocked from the factory, that´s all i know. No clue how to downclock it at all and a google search didn´t bring the desired results. Can you point me in any direction with helpful information please?

And please don´t tell me I am complaining because going to the forum and asking for help is literally the last step i took except ripping the 750 out and putting the older 640 into the pc. I am using MSI Afterburner to downclock the graphics card permanently by about 10% of Core Clock and Memory Clock (which helps a bit as i pointed out earlier) and i spent several hours (meanwhile even days i think) reading through forums about people complaining about the same thing with this particular card. Tried a ton of stuff including settings in registry, NVidia driver and whatnot...

Whoaaaaa. I'm just tryin' to help. I think you took the word complaining and ran with it. I simply meant time is better spent playing until a fix is found. I'll try to insert more smiley faces to avoid offending anyone. :) There.
If you have a factory overclocked card that really doesn't even count towards what I said, really. It just seemed silly to me to be spending so much time on an issue if you were just having issues because of an overclock when, in fact, it seemed like you were having a common issue when someone is pushing their card. You mentioned MSI Afterburner and I thought you were tuning it yourself. Do you have any extra parts lying around? Try swapping the power supply.

I run a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 690s in SLI config and, although this isn't your card at all, I'll tell you of a problem I had.

From time to time, while playing EVE - no other game, the screen would just go black (usually at a crucial moment, the way it always is). Sometimes, I could still hear audio, sometimes not, but nothing I did would recover the picture.

After a while, the screen would go black and the PC would cut out very suddenly. This would be followed by an automatic reboot, or silence. I could, however re-start the PC (and EVE) if I left the machine off for a while. Of course, I assumed that overheating per se was the problem. I was wrong, although perhaps not altogether so.

Long story short, the card was gradually becoming unseated because of vibration, losing contact with its er contacts. I hoovered the inside of the cab (plastic nozzle pls) and reseated the card. Perfect. I now make that operation part of my regular maintenance schedule and have not had the problem since doing so.

This may not solve your issues, which others seem to have picked up on, but I'm just putting it out there. It saved me from going and buying a new card.

+to nvidia issues.

I had GTX560 and all went ok. Upgraded to GTX 1060 and issues are:

  • POS gun and ewar SFX hang - they still are visible when guns aer firing other target. A LOT of effects are visible after 5-10mins of fight
  • Interface is blinking(especially watch list)
  • FPS drops from 180 to 30-40 while those bugs are in effect
  • FPS still is low after those bugs after warping of or changing system, but higher - around 60-80 fps

I don't have those bugs - as 560 uses an older driver version!

I get issues with Asus Strix 1060 as well. Have a brand new rig with WIn 10 and 6700K i7.
WIth everything on high settings and no anti aliasing:

  • All Ships and objects disappear completely when appearing in new system at times.
  • The transition effects between systems sometimes don't show.
  • Music routinely decides to not function but voice over effects remain.

I might try dropping the quality and see if it makes a difference.

Hi guys,

If anybody is experiencing regular crashes and can reproduce them often. Please do send in a bug report with as many details as possible. If this is an EVE client issue then we can investigate what might be triggering the crash. But if its a driver issue, then its something we can approach Nvidia or AMD with. At that point we'll work with them to fix the issue.

So please do get in touch. A bug report filed from within the client is preferable as we are able to get a snap shot of your system and can then begin trying to repro in house. For now, my advice would be to check your hardware and to ensure that its clear of dust. Overheating can be a major issue on some older cards. If your drivers are out of date then get them up to the latest non-beta version. If the client is still crashing at this point, then send us a bug report and we'll get the ball rolling.

How should i send you an ingame bugreport if the computer completely freezes? Are logs of previous sessions sent with those reports? And if not is there a way i can identify such logs and send them to you?

I believe only the log for the current session is sent with an in-game bug report. What you can do is

1) Follow the procedure described here to run the LogLite logging tool, capture your logs across a crash, and save them to a file.

2) Then, if you can launch the game and submit a bug report in-game, please do so.

(If you absolutely cannot file a bug report in-game, you can use our bug reporting web page, but please note that doing that does not automatically attach other useful info such as your settings and window configuration, which might matter in a crash.)

3) Finally you can look up your bug report on the My Bug Reports page which will allow you to edit the bug report and add a new attached file. You should attach the log you saved. You'll have to hit the "edit" link which is somewhat small, but it should be just about the only clickable thing. Once you choose that, you can edit your entire bug report and add new attachments.

By submitting in-game, we get the package of information that CCP Saviour describes, and adding the log you captured directly ensures that we get the correct log for the crashed session.

We also do get other telemetry on crashes and your in-game bug report will automatically point us at your most recent crash telemetry too, so even though it might sound a bit cumbersome, this is the very best procedure to follow for getting us all the information that might be useful.
