Alpha newbro wondering what ship to use to clear lower level gas site rats in wormholes. I started out just using the venture for scanning, then mining the sites ninja style. Looking at it from a few days of play I wonder if it would be less risk to scan with a small frigate, bring back a carcal kill the site rats, and then finally bring in the venture. I am solo and kind of like the challenge but would rather not throw my isk if at all possible.

What ship and fitting(caldari) should i use?

Thanks

I haven't fit for an alpha clone, so I'm not sure what would be the best fittings you can fit and if you can T2 any of that do so. Stay aligned out of the site to a safe and you should be good. If you have to, warp off, let your shields recharge and head back in.

Wormhole NPCs (Sleepers) are tougher than in normal space, and they have programming that will make them attack your drones, warp scramble you, and other nasty things you normally only see in PVP against players.

Make sure you train your support skills (Armor, Shields, Navigation, Engineering, Targeting) to 3-4, to make your Caracal at least function with maximum defenses that you can get.

Veterans typically try wormhole NPCs in battlecruisers, or advanced T2 / T3 ships with solid tanks and weaponry.

I think the caracal will work fine. Just be aware ****ANY**** time you are in W-Space the most important thing is to remember to constantly Dscan every few seconds to see if anyone else is in there with you. Make sure you are looking for other ships AND probes. If you are killing rats in a gas Sig and see probes on scan within 2AU, another player(s) is/are scanning you down and will attack you.

Also- When sucking gas, either sit still right at the center of the gas cloud so that Stealth Bombers cant get within scram range of you w/o decloaking, or just orbit the cloud at 500m, that way you are a harder target to catch.

Lastly, if you have learned how to do it properly, you really should be aiming to scan down Gas sites in C5 wormholes... You can Ninja those for 15-20 minutes and make 20x what you are making now in the lower level holes.

In addition to all that, always loot and salvage, but if you don't want to salvage, blow up the wrecks. Wrecks on d-scan in wormholes basically announce you as a target, and will easily get you killed.
