Need advise on upgrading computer

Just got my shipment with the PSU and video card. Not going to have time to install today but will let everyone know how it turns out tomorrow. Oh and I did look at the SSDs and yikes! Quite pricey. That will be an upgrade down the road.

The video card will help, but you'll still be a little bottlenecked by the CPU running at stock speeds. Unfortunately the i7-920 doesn't have a very aggressive turbo function (2.9ghz max I think) like the newer intel chips, so manually setting the max CPU multiplier to around 25 (25x133 = 3.33 Ghz) will help smooth out performance considerably. First make sure that your motherboard has the option to adjust the max turbo multiplier, and also keep an eye on temperatures. The 920 can probably handle a higher speed with the stock cooling.

The Radeon 6870 and PSU are in and... it rocks! Playing two clients at full graphics and getting steady 60 FPS. Was getting more when I was messing with the interval options but it was hurting performance outside of Eve so I put it back to default. Installation of the PSU SUCKED. The new one is slightly longer than the old one and getting everything hooked up sucked with the restricted space of my Studio XPS case. Thanks for all of your input! Big smile

I was messing with the interval the other day myself. At interval immediate, it was hovering around the 300fps mark. The warp tunnel was smoother, but other than that, i couuldnt tell any other difference.

Cant be good running at them speeds? Im not all that clued up with things like that. So i went back to interval one. Glad ur stuff has worked out. & as for the SSD's, that will be because the worlds supply sank just like Atlantis did Lol
