Hi,

I first started playing eve online in 2008 but have only played for around 2 years on and off during that time.

my character has 15 million skill points but would like to change my ingame name quite simply because I don't like it. ive googled it but have read that this isn't possible. is this still the case?

I also read that its possible to transfer skill points to a new character.

how does this work, is it possible to transfer all the skill points?

You can buy skill extractors to drain ur characters skill points up to 5mil skill points and then transfer them to a new character but there are diminishing returns after various SP totals.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

There is currently no easy way to change your name.

What you can do:

1. Create an alt and report your name for being offensive (maybe you had a deaf dog one time, or it's something sexual, or offends your religion, or some leftist sensitivity)
2. Hope the GM changes your name to Gallente Citizen 12525736675
3. Petition the name change with your preferred new name

That's kind of, sort of, maybe a joke but not saying it won't work.

The skill transfer process works like this:

1. You cannot transfer the last 5 million skillpoints, it's a minimum that must remain on the character.

2. For 10 million skillpoints, you'll have to buy 20 skill extractors. You can get them in Jita for 250 million ISK each (so 5 billion ISK total), or you can pay $25 for 5 to get them through Account Management (so that's $100).

3. You then use the extractors one by one on your character to fill them up with skillpoints, 500k points per extractor -> filled "injector".

4. You transfer these injectors to your new character, and inject them. The first 10 injectors will give you the full 500k points, the next 10 will give you 400k points (built-in penalties), so your new character will have 9 million skillpoints.

So, you're paying either $100 for a 6-PLEX pack or straight up skill extractors, or you're paying 5 billion ISK in-game, to change a 15m SP character to a 9m SP character. Note that if you just create a brand new (Alpha) account, and upgrade it to Omega using CCP's extremely good discount of $100 / year, you can then train 20 million SP on that character in the 1 year (but it takes 1 year).

Otherwise, you CAN do this in-game without paying any ISK or any $$, like so:

1. Use whatever ISK you have to buy 1 skill extractor, to get the process started.

2. Extract skillpoints, fill up each injector, sell it on the market for 600-ish million ISK.

3. Buy 2 extractors, fill up, sell, buy 4, fill up, sell... You're relying on the fact that you pay 250m, add skillpoints, and sell for 600m.

4. At some point you'll make your initial investment back and have a few filled-up skill injectors left, at no cost to you. Probably 11 or so. So you transfer these to your new character and inject them, for about 5 million skillpoints. So, for free, you're transforming a 15 million SP character into a 5 million SP character.

5 (for both lists). If you leave a decent set of skills on your tonedog2008 character (maybe trade skills or mining or whatever), you can try to sell it on the Character Bazaar for a few billion ISK and get some spare change out of it.
