Spent a ton of isk fitting up a stratios, the time invested into the research..and etc took up most of my time. I didn't even stand a chance. I was so devastated after being killed yesterday I lost maybe close to a billion isk that I've been saving up. I literally stopped playing yesterday, just logged off.

I felt like a failure.

But it felt GREAT. They even pod killed me lol. Can't wait to get back in and try again. I'll probably avoid using an stratios. At the same time I don't.

I'm literally addicted to WH lifestyle.

Theres so many corporations based out in the sticks (Wormhole territory), I met a ton of great people during my stealth escapades, roaming WH to WH, you never know who you're going to run into. But I got greedy, I stepped out to high sec, then jumped through a gate to low sec hoping to find a potential kill and ran into a gate camp got owned. Which made me realize I need to PVP a bit more.

I'm gonna stick to more..inexpensive routes. Probably a vexor since I have superb drone skills (t2 everything).

I realize that pretty soon using t1 cruisers and stuff isn't going to do it for me, I need ways to obtaining large amounts of isk over a few hours each day so I can blow it on weekend pleasure, any ideas?

I feel for you, but you learned a valuable (if somewhat expensive) lesson and came out the better for it.

You'll do fine, Tremaine. You have the proper EVE attitude.

When I started EVE, I lost my bran new scorpion to a frigate. I thought I was untouchable in my new shiny battleship. Then I got killed. 70 mill was a lot to me back then.

I have also lost +5 implants. Don't let loss put you off, its all part of the game. Without loss this game wouldn't work. You learn from your mistakes, like you said you got greedy. I to have been there. From this I have learnt to pick my fights & when I'm tired, I don't bother.

Stay at it. EVE is rewarding if you take your time.

its all about ones relative wealth my friend. A billion to me is a stable amount of cash, its not new money, so I will always have ways to bring it back but it certainly is a inconvenience. Save hard, play hard. Ya know?

so much i wasn't thinking of quitting. but thinking of how to get revenge.

think about getting even.

Consider an Astero is you want to keep operating in WH space until you can afford another Stratios. A vexor would be hard losing the cov-ops and scanning bonus.

Incursions can be a way to build isk for your preferred activities.

hehehehe, I used Stratios in wormholes, were scrambled few times even, but never lost it there.

But I fall asleep on gates or generally doing stuff in game and have been ganked few times while autopiloting shuttle. I lost more than a billion. More than 2, more than 3... then resumed flying like always. They cant truly kill you or make you stop. Only you can make yourself stop.

Funny story! The Astero is what made me buy a Stratios! I'm so amped to get back at it im leaving work early today so I can play a bit more before my SO comes home.

I was originally buttoned up in a exploration fit astero, not much tank but had tons of agility enhancing equipment to make a good loot and scoot vessel. I

Let me tell you about the CRAZY adventures I got into with that thing.

So I pop out of a WH that lead to low sec, I needed to repair. As soon as I stick my head out of the hole.. I start falling victim for EVES #1 biggest NO, Greed.

1.3 billion in ISK estimated loot being carried by me in the cargo hold, and I still got greedy. I can down the sites, oh a relic. One more?

So I warp in, 30 KM out, save the spot, and move in. I'm a WH guy, so I take things slow and cautious. I make it to one of the relics, I sit back for a lil, check the D scan. Empty. Uncloak, proceed to hack, spamming "V".. Probes pop up on the D scan, I always spread formation when I make it to a site so I don't pick up my own probes and scare myself. These aint mine.. Oh SH*T!

I hide, warp out, then warp back in. Probes still there, someones either looking for me or this spot. I hope its the latter. I did **** off a few guys down in the rabbit hole but they never leave the WH. You know, what happens in there stays in there.

I'm used to the not checking local mentality that comes with the territory of WH space, and then it comes back to me. I check local, 2 people. 1 guy is a newbro, few days old, the other seasoned EVE player under my assumption since hes a few years old.

So after awhile and seeing the probes still there, I message the older player. Paranoia takes over and I ask him "Be real, are you trying to kill me bro??" He goes, "Oh man! I thought you were trying to kill me!" So it turns out we're both explorers, he comes in to the space, I figure his heron would be bait anyways incase someone points us out. They'll certainly go after him first. He mentions theres a band of pirates in the next sector over.

Damn! Totally distracted. I mention to him to "Check the D Scan", speak of the devil, just as I was going to refresh it the whole FKN overview LIT UP.

I VIVIDLY remember seeing Cheetahs, bright red and bearing down on us fast as hell, and saying "FCK". I aligned out, hit the MWD and clenched my cheeks. One of them caught up with me, but he was only able to hit me with the regular warp disruption, not the one that cancels out the MWD. I broke distance, stealthed and warped out. I figured I was 6 jumps or so from jita, and I stopped worrying about gate camps since I started doing stealth operations so I said why not.

AAAAND that's how I went about getting my stratios.

Cool thing about Cov-Ops vessels is we're made to travel through the void. This is my playstyle! I love it. I met so many cool players I may never meet again down there.

Haha also, having a cynosphere ontop of a wormhole with a sign saying "Trespassers will be shot" Only makes me want to explore there more :)

Man this is crazy, the PVE aspect of EVE like missions and stuff will literally make people quit cause they think that's all eve is, but theres SO much out there to do!! Im so thankful I tried out exploration, its really worth the learning curve.. its the most FUN ever.

Astero is a nice ship, can do a lot of sites and is cheap. I used it for a long time until I finally said, I need to make those 5/10 and 6/10 in low sec at last, there is so much ISK to make there its a sin not to try.

But the really BIG isk is in null. Where people rat with carriers and titans.

Yeah, I hope there will be some kind of implementation outside of SBs as a dedicated hunter-killer ship for WH. Maybe one that is geared similarly to statios but can also use expanded probe launchers.

That's what makes Eve special: death counts. So skirting someone with a big ship in a Cov Op and grabbing the cans can be as satisfying as killing someone because you achieved something. In other games only the death toll counts but in Eve preventing death counts too. The down side is: if you loose you REALLY loose something. This will always limit the amount of players but it will guarantee the player base on the other side. No one else is so stupid as to put such harsh consequences in a not totally controllable environment. So nobody will cater to the players that like it really hard.

Posting in veiled begging thread.

"I was foolish and lost a bil due to more implants in my head than the combined value of my badly fit Astero + loot in cargo. Im such a noob tihihihi. But look at how brave I am and sucking it up (please send me encouragement/support isk!)"

I checked your killboard.

Your fit and cargo contents indicates you where hunting explorers.
You attempted to pass through an LS entry point in that fit, without a travel fit, though you had a mobile depot onboard.
I expect you didnt check the map for indication of camps either.

Then you lost your pod with a headful of implants worth more than your ship, fittings and cargo.

And what is this nonsense about Cheetahs bearing down on you. They are singularly the most incapable PvP ships among cov-ops, and have zero chance vs an Astero.

Im glad you shared your story, but I think you only shared part of it.
Im glad you apparently felt great about it, but I doubt it.

Im not buying any of this, except the fact you lost your headful of implants and an explorer hunting Astero fit cos you didnt fit for travel or check the map before passing through a LS entry gate.

Hell naw bro. Don't get it twisted. Im not begging for SQUAT! I worked my ass off, I literally spent my last of what I had to buy an astero. Originally I was going to start off with a half-arsed Stratio, but people told me thats too much of an initial investment. Then I bought a heron, but didn't like the fact I was a sitting duck until I had t2 skilled, never got around to fitting it. So I bought the Astero. After I fitted it was about 100M in value. I Started off with that, by the time I came back to jita I had made ENOUGH money to buy a strat + most of the slave set + fit and I have money left over to re try again with the astero tonight. Also, I have a Gila and a rattlesnake that I use to mission run and make cash with in high sec. I actually made this thread to get my experience out there. I was a mission runner until I started to do WH, just had my first experience with PVP and a big loss. I decided to post on the forums to get my experience out there, as well as the fact that when you die in eve yeah it can be a set back but the fun part is getting back on the ground and trying again. So don't tell me im begging for diddily ****.

Like I told my S.O. When I got podded, she didn't know a damn thing I was talking about because shes not into EVE. But what she DID understand was, that shyt made me feel like a legit failure because I spent so long looking for fits before buying that strat. I spent hours getting it ready just to die that easy. But I immediately came back and realized its not even over, I still have the chance to get better, and get even. That was my second wind, and that is a great part about EVE. No real reason to be upset its not as harsh as it used to be pre-rhea

I spoke to a guy yesterday, who died to the same gate camp I escaped on my way back to jita in my astero. He was PISSED. Called me all kinds of names when I chatted with him cause he thought I was one of the pirates who killed him, but I was trying to get a status on the gate camp.. I can understand his anger, but I was too slightly, but I laughed it off and came back he sounded like he wasn't.

I wasn't hunting explorers, not when I was in the astero. I bought the strat to start hunting, but it ended prematurely for me. I never got to kill a single thing. In my down time I scanned down a few relic and data sites ( as you can see in my inventory I had both relic and a data scanner with a mobile depot) Though, Im sure if I had my statios the guy I ran into in the heron probably would've been my first target lol.

I KNEW what trouble was coming when I made that gate, but I wasn't prepared for it. I know now to stick to WHs for traveling around rather than gates. I rolled the dice and lost. What happened was, I actually came out of a WH that put me in high sec, I was about to head back in and try again but I saw there was a low sec gate right next to me. I figured, yeah probably gate camped but I can get through it with the MWD cloak trick.

As for the Cheetahs, I for one did not know they are "incapable", all I know was I saw a bunch of red coming towards me, and I GTFO of there. I wasn't there to analyze a fight, I was trying to grab some more loot before I came to do what I was originally going to. Repair, hop back in the WH. Ended up going to Jita, selling and buying a strat.

Go somewhere else, you're either a troll or a highly pessimistic person, either way your depressive, attempt at a realist vibe is unnecessary and basically being a Debbie downer. You're being that guy who analyzes the entire joke while amongst a crowd, just go with the flow and stop trying to a freakin vibe kill, that's the worst thing ever.
