Oh noes, cheap ships.

Quit your bellyaching, go buy some cheap ships and go get blown up. It's a good time to be capsuleer.

'Cheap ships' sounds good in theory, I mean who wouldn't want to be able to casually afford and fly around in good ships for cheap (such as T2/T3/faction).

But I just find that the 'balance' is very important for EVE. And EVE is not just made of people who fly & shoot each other in cheap ships. Another big part of EVE is 'making' these ships and gathering resources for such ships.

At the end of the day, from consumer/end-user point of view, yeah I can understand. Everybody's happier if they can get something cheaper.

But it needs to be sustainable and balanced, where everyone in the chain (from miners to producers to haulers to traders to the end users) can benefit from their own activities. If any particular group, or even worse, multiple groups start to suffer losses from long term depression and crashing market with painfully slow recovery, the game will start to get very wonky.

I think keeping a stable/healthy/growing economy in New Eden is as important factor as ship balances & quality of life improvement patches & stuff, for the longevity of the game.

To put it in different ways - you may go on holiday & find country A sells many things very cheap, and you'd love it and go on shopping spree. But if country A's economy collapsed, you probably wouldn't want to live and work there.

It's same with EVE as I see it. If market gets wonky enough, to the point that people start to see no value in ISK or in commodities or in their effort to make them/trade them, a lot of EVE's appeal and uniqueness will die, and at the end all you'll have left is meaningless space ship pew pew, at which point EVE may as well just turn into an arcade game with instanced arenas, etc.

Well obviously I'm talking about an extreme case of things going super nova level of fubar, and surely CCP will fiddle with things so that we do not reach that level of economic problem.

was just trying to explain 'cheap ships =/-= always good'.

By that you mean we can expect a Crucible like expansion in the first half of 2017 that fixes all the problems with Citadels, introduces still missing features and does some direly needed improvements to other areas of the game before you continue wr... augmenting it with more structures? Good to know. Such a Crucible like expansion is absolutely what EVE needs right now in order to make things enjoyable again. No sarcasm included in the last sentence, by the way.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

There is still a ton of guess-work on what Drilling Platforms will bring to the game. Given that the rollout on those has been pushed back to late 2017, I'm hoping for an update devblog sometime early in the year, and then as CCP Falcon said could happen, maybe things get moved up a bit.

You really need to learn the skill of brevity. Your posts are painfully long, regardless the points they make.

In response: the market responds. Miners don't get paid by the minerals they mine, not really. They get paid by the hour. This happens because that's the criteria people use when they decide to quit mining. Lower material costs don't really affect the manufacturers either because again, the market responds. As prices drop, players can buy more quantity, increasing demand on a now increased supply, it means they get to sell what they make that much faster. IMO, it would be awesome if manufacturing became the market bottleneck, as that is a FAR more potentially interesting profession than either mining or PVE.

I don't know if there were any other actual points in your post, it was way tl;dr.

Right now, we don't have an ETA for drilling platforms, but after speaking with the team who'll be working on them, they won't be rolled out during winter 2016/2017.

For this reason, we've pushed them back to the fall in 2017 for now, however that date may come forward.

We use EVE Updates pretty fluidly to display the road map of what's coming up in the short to mid term future, so don't be surprised if things appear, disappear, shift around or change dates.

You might want to update your features for Winter 2016, right now your false advertising and Paypal, Visa and Mastercard will allow this reason for refunding of charges made over the past 60 days. Silly CCP might wanna tell your marketing department you lied about your target dates :)

CCP couldn't develop their way out of a wet paper bag.

Guess we all know now where the development time is going, seems CCP always has time to develop new skins and clothing for micro transaction feature but the important stuff gets delayed by a year?

WTF

Relax, hats were first on the list to do. Many people wanted them even before they started talking about new structures.

Whatever they do, make it so "... and then swing by jita to pick up a, b and c..." is off the table plz

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships
