Hi all,

I currently have issues in regards to multiboxing in terms of CPU and Memory limits on my current laptop (can't use desktop so please bear with me on that one)

These are the current specs of my laptop: Asus Republic Of Gamers G750JX-T4144H

CPU/SoC Intel Core i7-4700HQ

Videocard GeForce GTX 770M

Memory/RAM 8GB

At the moment i'm running 5 clients, which use up about 80% of my CPU and Memory..
The memory i know isn't a issue but i have had severe difficulty finding a good laptop with a powerful enough CPU that will work with eve and does not cost over 10k euros.

All clients run in potato mode, on lowest settings with sound turned off, and ifi were to play max graphics, i only use 1 toon ofcourse.

I am planning to run 8-10 clients over the next few months, but will be happy to keep it at 8 if there is no possibility in terms of CPU.

Again, i can only use a laptop, i am unsure if a workstation laptop works at all with eve since they are not really designed for gaming, and do not want to gamble my money on it.

If anyone knows of a workstation or laptop that will work, or some sorts i'd be very grateful

(there might a few Billion isk in it for you, if you help me find the right one!)

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Because the question needs to be asked:

Why can you only use a laptop?

Do you need to have all your clients on the screen at once, or do you alt-tab between them?

Something sounds off, that rig should be able to run 5 clients on potato mode.

Are you running other things in the background?

How long have you had it are you sure there's not a bunch of malware on it?

Have you tried running 8 clients? Are you sure it won't do it?

You should be able to run that with no problem i would first ask if your looking to upgrade can you just upgrade your GPU ? is it dedicated if it is then possibly upgrading it will give you a good boost in performance same thing with the cpu .

Yeah why a laptop only? There are small factor PCs strong enough for multiboxing, but yeah they have to be plugged in. There are USB powered LED panels, small enough to be portable as well..

Try opening the taskmanager or systemmonitor, and tell us what parts are peaking.

In retrospect, "the WIS" has potatoes and still manages to multibox aplenty. Granted, eve has gone over a couple of changes..

Errr, my PC is worse and when i run 5 clients (min settings) CPU usage is ~30%. I dont even have a dedicated graphics card atm.

Are you playing in 8k?
Do you have other stuff running in the background?
Are all your clients looking at the Jita undock?

I recommend using a desktop computer for gaming. They are cheaper and much easier to cool.

The newest generation of mobile graphics cards is pretty much equal to the destop variants.

Kaby Lake (CPU) + Pascal (graphics cards) + DDR4 RAM + SSD = Really good mobile gaming machine, almost equal to a desktop. Desktops are still cheaper and easier to cool though.

Might be worth checking out this laptop which is around 1000 euros.
If you are going to be running 8-10 clients, the 12GB version might be a better idea. Neither the graphics card nor the CPU are huge improvements over your current laptop, so you might want to check out some higher budget models like this laptop.
This laptop is around 1500 euros and has a desktop 1060 GPU in it. Its processor is also newer and it has 16GB of RAM. The desktop GPU means that it has terrible battery life though. It should be able to handle 8-10 clients much better than the other one.

The best widely used mobile processor right now is the 6700HQ, which is used by the two laptops above. It does not provide a huge performance increase compared to your current processor. In this respect, cleaning up your current laptop's background programs will likely provide the best boost to CPU usage. There are a few laptops with better processors, but they are more than triple the price of the above laptops. MSI's Titans have these processors.

Another possibility to consider is buying a desktop and using it whenever possible instead of your laptop. Building a desktop would be much cheaper and provide the same performance as the laptops above.

All laptops above have SSDs so there shouldn't be any issues with their disk performance.

If you want to stay with an ASUS laptop, you can also look into ASUS laptops with a 6700HQ and 900m/1000 series GPU.

Hi, I've been loking into and comparing gaming laptops for a few weeks and the one that really stands out to me is,

ORIGIN EON15-X

You can configure it how you like ( there are a lot of options) but a decent specced version like this...

i7 6700k desktop cpu, not the mobile version which is slower
16GB Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2400MHz
120GB + 1TB SSD drives
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB ( there is a 1070 option )

Comes to about $2500 or £1700

It's not exactly cheap, but it's well worth the money.
