I have actually started this blog back up a week or two ago. I thought I would share it here.

The latest entry ends in my introspection about life at -10.0

~ * * * ~

Last night was a fairly quiet night overall. Wednesdays tend to be quiet nights in Kinakka when compared to the rest of the week. Only twice did I engage anything.

The Taranis is another one of my absolute favorite ships in the game.. I have galavanted all over null in a Taranis, picking up pursuing fleets. I have run down and tackled numerous cloaky ships in a Taranis. I have tackled and destroyed other interceptors. It truly is a fun ship to fly. As most of us know, the Taranis has not yet begun to fight until it reaches hull.

Well, a mate in a destroyer had found a crow, so I undocked in my Taranis and warped in. By the time I reached the acceleration gate, the crow had been destroyed. The arty fit destroyer got off a final lucky shot as the crow got under its guns. He held the pod for me, and I finished it off.

So much for getting my first kill mark on my Taranis.

A few minutes later he called tackle on a Malediction. I warped in with my Taranis, and took the acceleration gate on contact. By the time I landed, the fellow Pancake was almost gone. I burned in and hard tackled the foe with web and scram, and began my assault. I overheated my guns as he tried to get away, but could not. I launched drones just as the destroyer exploded, and we began exchanging blows. I was applying a large amount of DPS to the target, but so was he to my own ship, and he had an active tank. Slowly, but surely, I broke through his shield reps and started bleeding into armor. Armor for armor we were stripping equal amounts, but that didn't matter. When I hit hull, the damage decreased dramatically. He hit 10% hull, and the damage seemed to stop. His weapons seemed to stop doing damage as well. His distance was increasing.

We both De-aggressed. Then that is when I realized, I had burned out my guns. I forgot to monitor my thermal damage. Also, it was Jimmy once again. We had given each other a good fight. He got away lucky by my own oversight.

I will get him next time.

This was the only action of the night. After this I began to ponder life in low sec and null space. I currently sit at a -3.6 security status, and I realize that some day I will reach -10.0. I ponder what life will be like no longer being able to reach the trading hubs. I wonder if I will ever see my Rattlesnake again, or any of my other ships parked in high security space. I also wonder if I even care. I have billions of ISK in ships parked in Kinakka, and another few billion in other assets.

I love the thrill of combat though, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else in New Eden. Perhaps one day I can be as feared or well known as some of the other pirates that have appeared in our system. For now, I am slowly gaining the respect of my corp and fleet mates, as I prove myself on the battlefield as a worthy foe, and a reliable ally.
