1. You could make them...

What you need:

Hydrocarbons, Silicates (to make Carbon Polymers)
Platinum, Tech (to make Platinum Technide)
lots of luck, and a large-ish corp to protect the lowsec reaction tower.

2. ... or just go to Jita.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Well, anyplace you can anchor a reactor, so 0.3 security or less = lowsec, nulsec, w-space.

The materials are obtained from moon mining, which is only possible in lowsec and nulsec, and on some prime moons that the largest alliances fight over.

Very short version: If you do not have a few billion ISK to set up reaction tower chain... "on the market".

Long version: To react Fullerides cost-effectively you need minimum of two large towers (550mil+) and assorted reactors and silos plus POS fuel etc. and all that must be set up in 0.3 or lower security. You may also want to set up some guns and other defenses to protect the towers and... well.. total bill for setting this up for a few week run (hardware and materials) is north of 1 billion ISK - all placed in space at 0.3 (or below) system. Granted, most of it is reusable hardware (an investment) but it is still a hefty pile of ISK placed at-risk.

And, assuming you buy the raw moon materials off the market, all that just ensures that you get Fullerides that cost you ultimately (at current market prices) about 2160 ISK per unit (and you have to haul around a lot of hardware and materials to low sec and finished products out). Ready-made Fullerides on the market = 2553 ISK per unit.

Great savings! You would need to be running a massive T2 production empire to make it worthwhile...

Also since by far the most expensive sub-component of Fullerides is Technetium, even if you moon mined everything else (probably unfeasible to begin with), the total wouldn't change much. And you won't moon mine Technetium - it is valuable enough to throw massive fleets around to control... every single Technetium moon in the game is mined and controlled by a large alliance.

Yes, Fullerides price is creeping up, mostly caused by Technetium price creeping up, mostly caused by large war in the north (where most Technetium is moon mined from) and supply getting disrupted as towers are going boom and new ones are being set up. And hey... you probably now figured out why it is valuable? It is the main component of Fullerides and Nanotransistors... whoever controls Technetium gets most of the ISK out of every Fullerides and Nanotransistors unit sold in EVE.

Of course with Technetium price mostly set up by a cartel of large alliances, it remains to be seen how the price will react once the dust settles. Personally I expect Goons (who are doing the invading bit) to jack up the price even higher - that of course assuming they win and gain control of all those Technetium moons... :)

Unless CCP get their proverbial finger out their anus and respond to any of the CSM threads on the subject of Technetium distribution (lack of) and repairing the f**kup they made a few years ago which lead to the current situation..

BTW: The CSM's pushing hardest for tech changes are Mittens and Vile Rat. The Goons like this game so much that they want their alliance income nerfed because it happens to be a design flaw.

Lies. Goons will take all the tech and refuse to sell any, thus causing no t2 modules to be produced and many tears to be shed.

It's all about the tears.

p.s.

You're not a Goon. You're a PonyDOT.

WIDOT Best Dot Forever. Sadly has lost its dot. Sad
