I mean cmon, it's been like 3 or 4 years now...

yes yes I know, never use autopilot, we are all leet and never use it....

I don't care, if it's not meant to jump me trough gates untill I arrive at my desto then why is it still a feature and why is it called autopilot? If it is meant to do that, why are devs taking years to fix it? Or do they have better things to do, like tank simulators and failed fps games for playstation?

edit: or are things like that a reminder why I unsubbed the last time and a message saying that I should switch to one of those afforementioned tank or fps games ?

What's the bug? I have found it works for me.

There's no bug with autopilot. It's working as intended, and has been for years.

Also not sure what the bug is. Seems to work fine to me; though I do hardly ever use it, I've never ran into a problem specific with it as far as I know.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Aww please. Set autopilot to the a system that's on the other side of highsec and go make dinner. When you are back, see if you've reached your destination.

It is likely that somwhere along the way you will get stuck on a gate, autopilot remains active but ship is neither moving or jumping the gate. The only way to get 'unstuck' is to turn the autopilot off and activate it again or manually jump yourself.

It seems to do that at random times, sometimes twice within 10 jumps, sometimes not at all for 30 jumps. It happens often enough to be a drag and make me rant here

If there is a legitimate bug, you file a bug report. Whining about it on the forums is not productive and will achieve literally nothing.

I experience this behaviour when I play on a mobile broadband connection. And once the culprit was a wifi module. A bios update and a new driver fixed that.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a network issue.

Maybe so. Won't help. Stop bitching and write a bug report.

Frankly, I never noticed in almost 9 years of playing Eve, but then again, the times I activated the damn thing could probably be counted with one hand.

It's gotta be. As confirmed with hacks of the past, autopilot is a client-side function that activates warp-tos and jumps. So if your network is malfunctioning it could very well interfere with something like autopilot.

Mine has worked fine every time I use it. I'll autopilot ceptors across highsec to update market orders, and it works flawlessly.

Did you try rebooting the Eve servers?

No, he has a valid point. Sometimes autopilot will break along the way, likely packet loss or something non CCP related. Most times it does work though.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

The next system is noch loaded/active, the autopilot stops and does not retry after a few seconds.

Try it on SiSi, most systems are hibernated and need to be launched first.

Assuming the system has been loaded since DT (sounds like that's the case for the OP) then this is usually caused by the clients time changing relative to the server. This is almost always a software/firmware issue.

I had this issue due to a bug with NVidia mobile graphics cards when they were in SLI mode and Eve was in a fixed window. The machine would lose 30 seconds an hour while playing Eve that way. Switch to a single card or go fullscreen and the problem disappeared. It wasn't Eve-specific but Eve seemed worse affected.

The symptoms I had were much the same as the OP although more severe the longer I played (PvP was "interesting" Straight ).

Never had the issue since I built a new machine a couple of years back. Same ISP/same connection (80/20 VDSL2).

I asked Tuxford to that for me once. I think he got in trouble though, he won't return my calls anymore.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

Spent about 6 years playing the game and done plenty of auto-piloting over big distances in high sec - the only time I've seen that issue is when either traffic control is in effect on a system or I've had network issues as mentioned above - 99% of the time it has functioned as expected.

thanx for the responses guys, I'm over it now... It's not like it happens all the time, I guess I'll wait till it happens again and keep track of the conditions that might be related to it e.g. how many screens I'm using and what the load on network/hardware is.

But yeah, it does happen to me regularily enough to be noticable and regardless of whether I'm using my laptop or pc... It did randomly start occuring after one of the patches a few years back. I saw a couple of threads on this already but they were largely full of 'just don't rely on autopilot noob' posts.

Might update if this thread is still open next time I get stuck.

Nah, he just doesn't want any more of your "payment".
