Max DPS tech 1 ship - for actual use

Hi

So I want to blow up customs offices and I might end up doing it myself. It will be in quiet low sec where I will probably be OK most of the time but may eventually get ganked.

So my requirement is cheap DPS monster, tank purely a nicety. The target is obviously huge and stationary. Tech 1 ship only with up to tech 2 mods, no silly fittings, no rigs. My effort is the Typhoon:

I would use an Oracle, due to the lower cost, or atleast an Amarr BS. Your effective DPS over time in that ship is going to be considerably worse unless you constantly have an alt in a hauler bringing you ammo, laser boats don't need ammo (and with faction/T2 ammo, they still need a heck of a lot less space than any other ammo does).

With all 5s, this fit tops 1100 DPS and uses considerably less ammo volume than your Phoon would:

I'd actually go for a tornado, myself. Fit it with 1400s for max alpha, and fill the lows with gyros.

EDIT for context:
A tornado because it's got the 8 turret slots of a mael for a single-weapon alpha, and is about a third the hull price so you lose less when you get blown up.
(When, not if, because you'll be hanging around lowsec for a while.)

Thanks for the replies.

Given that I don't want to lose a dread, it looks like my Typhoon for max damage over a short time but an Amarr laser boat is a valid alternative. Reasonable idea about the Tornado, but the slight extra cost for the Typhoon is probably worth it for the added dps, imo.

Yes but you have to take in the time for docking up every 20 mins for new ammo, plus the pure cost of it

Raven can do it pretty close to the Phoon or Geddon too (DHP IIs for that utility slots ~ 1150 dps).
Also do not post non-cap-stable Geddons for this sort of stuff...those med slots will need cap rechargers in real life.

I would go for the Geddon purely due to ammo usage, and do remember that when you factor in reload times it actually matches or closes the gap to the others significantly. In combat, BSs rarely reload their short range guns, but for POS or Custom Office shootin, they surely do more than a few times.

A raven with Rage (~1200 DPS) will often outdamage a geddon with Conflag (~1300 DPS) in a POS bash because it can adapt damage types. Is this also true for customs offices?

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

Don't know tbh.
Last time i've done something like that (shooting enemy POS with very few men) was close to blue stations with proper ammo supply support etc, and yes, we were using torp ravens. Dmg types do make a difference, but it will be terribly tedious either way in 1 man situtations. At least he should save some isk using T1 ammo if possible, or do it "almost for free" with a Geddon Roll

For POCOs no because unlike pos structures the POCOs have 0 resists across the board.

There we have it - Geddon with Conflag or Multifreq is probably the best bet then. Maybe a Void Hyperion or Rage/Hail Phoon if the extra reload time is worth it to you. Thanks for doing the legwork!

Garde II x5

1467dps @ 8.8km with max skills. Gotta love dual damage bonuses.

If you feel like it, stick two sentry damage rigs on it as they're pretty cheap. Brings DPS up to 1555.

This one time, I like, totally did some stuff.

Just a quicky - as we have taken down a few POCO's with small gangs - it seems that you can use a NOS on the POCO so if you have a utility high (or two) with a laser boat added with cap boosters this may sway the argument - unless you have an alt in an indy full of ammo for you. Although, even with a high DPS boat you're looking at a fair few hours of shooting - and in low sec don't expect to be able to get away with that before being jumped.

He said "actual use", firing away for a few hours wasting void ammo is probably not what he had in mind.

The flavour of ammo is of course something you can change, vanilla AM does 1156 dps which is still significant.

OK definitely being swayed by the geddon. Not sure I would go for 7 heat sinks, though. That last one adds 1 dps and the sixth adds 7!

Thanks for the replies.
