There are no rules by ccp against it. The market will sort that out by itself. No single person or entity can monopolize the market for all items in an empire. Only the dumb and lazy will buy for "astronomical prices".

Wait what? In Dodie? Same as above, looks like a good opportunity. Twisted

That's normal behaviour and happens all the time.

Everything in Eve is about time, distance and laziness. Most people are willing to pay a premium for the convenience of buying items only a few jumps away. Time is money in Eve and it's just not efficient to fly for half an hour to Jita to save a few hundred thousand ISK.

Experienced traders have a feeling about how much premium people are willing to pay before they fly to Jita for themselves. Meaning traders will buy stuff from the market if it's offered too cheap.

But buying stuff above production price is also quite risky, because producers could increase their production and kill the higher prices quickly. Same for inter-regional traders. They can bring huge amounts from Jita with the next freighter and bring the prices down quickly.

Some items can't be produced, only found. I think these items are most vulnerable to price manipulation, because the supply is unlikely to scale up much.

If they are charging "astronomical" prices, you should be able to buy for less at one of the major hubs and undercut them. Their high price will create an"anchor" that make your price look reasonable. Good way to make some ISK - exploit it instead of complaining about it!

Hi, that might have been me.

I have conducted pump and dump buyouts on a few items in Dodixie in the last couple of months. Tech 2 frigates, decryptors and components for tech 2 ships are the ones that were me.

Still working on sentry drones, though that will take more capital than I have now as I'll be doing it (again) gamewide, not just in Dodixie.

Welcome to EVE. EVE stands for 'Everyone Versus Everyone'. The market is as dominated by PVP as any nullsec war.

no this was almost everything in every station across the whole solar sytem in gallente space. but yea good point its gives me the advantage to undermine those exorbitant prices and get the edge on sales .

Yeah that didn't happen. Not everything, not even nearly close.

You probably screwed with your market display settings and are not seeing orders now...

Thanks for the heads up, would be nice if you could post here once and before you start buying up. Blink

Market cornering is a feature.. CCP has no policy since that is working as intended..

In a seriously low barrier of entry economy, its impossible to keep a manipulation running, so its a question of time before someone would kill such an endeavour.

Eh, they are something like 40% below build cost at present (thanks, carrier pilots) so it's a different dynamic.
