Interesting times, pilots! Just saw this on Galnet.

Pilots;

The single greatest public works project of New Eden is well underway. All pilots, no matter their allegiance, now have access to an integrated network of freeport citadels serving the Forge, Lonetrek, Sinq Laison, Solitude, and surrounding areas (map here). These Keepstar market hubs are linked by a series of Fortizars at midpoints between them, allowing for the easy transit of goods and ships from one region to another, safely tethered against hostile intervention.

Our plan is simple in concept but monumental in scale: we seek to simplify logistics for all Capsuleers operating in null and low security space, providing easy-to-access markets and secure lines of supply. In pursuit of this objective, we have deployed multiple Keepstars and dozens of Fortizars, with a material outlay of over four trillion ISK, and there is much more to come.
Expect new hubs, new midpoint paths, and even Titan taxi lines in the coming weeks and months.

Empowered by Upwell’s proprietary technology, the New Eden Trading Company is connecting the stars.

Our network adds market hubs in Aunenen (Lonetrek), and Straloin (Solitude) and Jayneleb (Derelik), which cooperate with the Care 4 Kids charity Keepstar in Maila and the Mercenary Coalition Tortuga Keepstar in Basgerin. This provides access to jump freighters from the majority of null and lowsec space, with midpoints positioned at a distance that can be traversed by any jump-capable vessel.

This network will be overseen by Chribba, and we commit to never setting broker fees over 1% with monthly reports on proceeds and outlays to be made public.

Despite dedicating over four trillion ISK to the project, Lenny Kravitz2 has waived any right to a share in the profits.

Traders and industrialists servicing the network’s markets, and indeed all pilots using the network, will have access to a proprietary set of market analysis tools to assist in acquiring goods, including features such as market stocking requests, pathfinding, and other such elements important to securing materials.

Security arrangements have already been made, including such elements as mercenary groups placed on retainer to an integrated defense force working with each Citadel’s not inconsequential weapons. Hostiles will be locked out of the trade network for a week to ten days to ensure integrity of the network. Once hostilities are resolved, belligerents will again be allowed access to the network.
No ‘three strike’ program is in play, to ensure reliable public access without risk of false flag operations, and to ensure the NETC system remains true to its founding purpose: providing neutral market hubs and simplified logistics for all of New Eden.

Future services
The initial deployment is an effort of considerable magnitude. Despite this, we already have plans to expand the New Eden Trading Company’s services, with Keepstar market hubs planned for Jayneleb (Derelik) and a number of as-yet unannounced systems.
Our titan taxi services will provide regularly-scheduled jump bridges along the midpoint chain, complete with fuel allowances for titan pilots, ticket revenue sharing, and an authentication system that will allow pilots using the bridge to verify that the jump bridge is adjacent to their desired Citadel end-point.

Sponsors The New Eden Trading Company is grateful for support by an array of noted Capsuleers and Capsuleer corporations, alliances, and other organizations, operating in a range of capacities.

The associated images are a map of the network still under construction, a formal press splash for media transmission, and then biographicals on Roberto Azevedo and the NETC project. Interestingly, when we'd first heard of the NETC project, our archivist did a bit of research for educational purposes. This got picked up by NETC when we were doing verification on our research, and they've decided to include it in the formal release. Well, a good day for that little archival project!

Having known about these plans for a while, I'm somewhat excited to see what will come of this. It's one of the largest endeavors in New Eden to date, especially from capsuleers. It'll be very interesting to see if this will have as far reaching ramifications as it has potential to.

Either way, owning capitals and supers has never been more convenient nor has the trading of them.

See you all in Tortuga one day or another.

Wonderful times. Upwell really makes impossible things possible - hundreds of thousands of workplaces, living quarters, tons of revenue... Mr. Azevedo just secured himself a very happy and busy life, congratulations! As a Caldari, this really makes me happy - this is essentially trading and prosperity without borders.

Upwell is nothing but the literal aids that is rotting New Eden from the inside out. Inspiring so many to live on "Shangrillas of Space" only to find themselves facing danger and death as waves and waves of Capsuleers interested only in profit leave them to die when enemy forces arrive and shoot the citadel. Shameful

I've lived on two citadels Sir, and neither were assaulted by other capsuleers. Just wait until ORE deploys Drilling Platforms, they'll be better than anything Upwell has released this far!

But the wealth then going to the families back home, the moment of impact, and the years before. Its just a honor to serve. Let them.

This is why I keep telling planetsiders to stay away from citadels until they're anchored and online. They rarely die after that, with the ones that die usually being the Astrahus (partly because their defenses aren't *that* great, and partly because there's far more of them than any other citadel design)

Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole. And this foundation must be defended.

At any cost

A groundbreaking industrial, economical and social revolution is taking place in New Eden, and I'm sitting here behind a desk, stuck in my laboratory because I left the keys to my pod in my other jacket.

A bold and ambitious project. Worthy of praise for the logistics alone. This endeavor gives opportunities to.. millions. After all, there is rarely profit without risk.

I understand your pain Miss, I haven't been able to see a Rorqual or Keepstar yet, only the ORE promotional media. They're great products though!!

An Azbel class engineering platform has now been anchored and is ready for capsuleer industrialists in Basgerin. This is the first of multiple such structures that'll cover all industry and research related efforts and in the spirit of Tortuga they're open to the public.

For those who find that lowsec upsets their delicate stomachs, the neighboring highsec system of Pulin just got a Market Fortizar (Port Royal) for a bit of highsec synergy with Tortuga. Capsuleers are becoming rather more self-sufficient every day it seems.

Such mixed feelings.

It's a really neat project, though.

Intriguing. I was part of Push-X for a brief period, and left when I thought them too ambitious for their own good at the time. That being said, I've used their services quite a bit since, in lieu of Red Frog.

For those that don't know (though I'm sure there are few) Push-X and Red Frog are competing courier services which offer incredibly reliable logistics for modest prices. I'm glad to see that they [Push-X] are a part of this project, and I'm almost certain that Red Frog will take a hit if they don't jump on that band wagon.

And backed by Mercenary Coalition, well... This is an interesting project indeed...

This project will be a great asset to many pilots and the neutrality between factions will be an important asset to maintaining this trade line. Not only does it allow for more users to benefit, but provides more defenders if someone tries to disrupt this project.

Something that benefits the masses, allows many defenders.

The project is a lie.

The primary hubs are all, other than the one managed by Mercenary Coalition, managed by senior member of Pandemic Legion. They are able to revoke access at a moment's notice to anyone, for any reason. This is an open secret in Null, as is the true intention behind the NETC: the network allows reasonably safe, reasonably speedy power projection for Pandemic Legion and Northern Coalition. supercapitals to every theater within reach.

That is why their Keepstar was destroyed during its shield initialization cycle yesterday. That is why is was destroyed by a wide variety of groups who generally do not agree on anything, including Goonswarm, TEST, Snuff, C0ven, and CVA—no fast friends, there.

You mean like the Co2 Keepstar was destroyed by damn near every combat capable entity in New Eden because they finally found a common ground? Keepstars anchoring gets shot at by everybody because they want the damn killmail. Hell, even some absolute slackjawed moron from MC shot at the damn thing.

I myself question why they decided to use the PL pet corp for that anchoring instead of a NETC corporation, but the argument that it's somehow a PL or NC supercapital highway is frankly nonsense. They are the two (well, one in reality) groups in New Eden that have no problems whatsoever moving their capitals and supers wherever they want without even the slightest danger anyway. They truly do not gain anything from this project in terms of their projection, while a freeported network instead provides their enemies with it that didn't have it themselves.

Co2 themselves evacuated to one of these hubs, unmolested. The NETC network provides reasonably safe, reasonably speedy power projection to everyone, and it provides everyone using it the same benefits when it comes to intel on movements, fleets and more. The galnet tools being built to provide remote verification of cyno placements, freeport status and so on are also a drawback to the boogeymen since they allow potential enemies vastly more safety and mobility than they'd otherwise have, and that the boogeymen already have, with impunity.

Even if such paranoid nonsense actually held true, even the most basic of cautionary measures (reduce the amount of "vulnerable" capitals or supers in the network at any one time, constant checks of freeport status etc) would easily make it impossible for any entity be it NC., PL, MC, NETC, or whoever else to ever do more than an infinitesimal fraction's worth of damage compared to the staggering cost of the network itself. Which would instantly lose that 'ability' the moment that was abused.

I - with the disclaimer I am no more than a very minor cog in a very minor part of the project, with no high-level access to anything - welcome any and all criticism and concerns over this network, as flaws or problems with it are better served to be placed under a spotlight than hidden in obscurity, but nonsense agendas are frankly all too transparent and dishonest to be valuable in that regard.

Two things, I'm simply playing devil's advocate:
1. Don't all of those groups have animosity towards Pl/NCdot and thus would do it out of spite anyways? It does seem doubtful it was for "the greater good" as is implied.
2. Aside from this power projection network and the ability to lock out groups/people, how would this really effect the small corps and no name alliances around? Yes I know they can drop caps in people with ease, so can other groups on them using the same network. It just seems like a worthless reason to put up a multi trillion isk network.

As has been publicly detailed elsewhere, the 'market' capabilities for the network is nothing of the sort—not really.

Sellers sell to the network. Buyers put in orders to be filled by the network. At any time, the managers of the individual Keepstars are not only able to deny buyers the ability to put in orders, as well as seeing precisely who is buying what, but they are the ones responsible for making sure those orders are filled.

Oh, sorry, did you need those 200 battleship hulls? I guess there's been a delay.

Now go looking into just who manages each of the Keepstars. Yes, Chribba's got top-level control, but he's not going to be personally monitoring every action taken in realtime. We all know there's a world of mischief that can be worked without overtly tipping your hand, and excuses can be made to cast any biased action as punitive for actions taken against the network. It's easy to create enough doubt to get room to play, and it doesn't have to be a long delay, if it happens at a critical moment.

I'm going to be charitable here, Miz, and believe that your personal animus against me and your organization's involvement in this project are just combining for some very heavy confirmation bias.

Deitra Vess wrote:

It would be, if they'd footed the majority of the bill. The Keepstars were bought by Lenny, before the DED drove him and his casino out of business. 4T of the start-up costs were his, in fact, in his desperate attempt to remain influential.

Beyond that... PL doesn't care about little people. They want to be able to interfere wherever they want, directly and indirectly. There's a war going on in an area serviced by one of the hubs? Well, maybe after a bad loss, one side has a few unexpected delays in being able to resupply, and can't regain optempo. This isn't difficult, and PL is more than capable of looking at the bigger picture and how to manipulate things to their advantage.

I'm sorry, you are trying to claim there's a ~narrative~ being spun here?

The market tools you're talking about are entirely optional and bypassed with the greatest of ease. If you don't trust them, don't use them. Have your own Logistics use the tools and mechanisms that are entirely in your own control to move your ships, your cargo, what have you and use the tools everyone has always had before this network was even possible. Going through the market systems, trade mechanics and so on leaves you entirely in control of what anyone can know or do about it, no different from when it was corporate stations.

All 'mischief' that can be done can only be done if you roll the dice on optional tools and services.

I don't know where you've invented this 'personal animus' nonsense against you, but it's certainly starting to become one. This disingenuous ~narrative~ spinning is contemptible and transparent and I expected better from you.
