Hi all,
I've been told ingame to look out for tan coloured asteroids when mining Pyroxeres.
A good tip but I would like to know are all the different asteroid pieces with certain obtainable ore different colours?
Thanks.

Each asteroid will only contain one type of ore, and yes, they are colored differently.

Easy ways to find the asteroid containing the ore you want to mine
- overview; switch to tab "Mining" and modify which asteroid type will be displayed
- use mid-slot module "Survey Scanner"

Don't look for color / shape; it's too cumbersome.

Instead, you can:

1. When you get to the asteroid belt, switch the Overview list to the Mining tab, so you can see the names of the asteroids and approach/lock/mine the specific ones you want.

1a. Click the = icon in the Overview to open the Overview settings and reconfigure the Mining tab to NOT show you Veldspar. I'm assuming you're no longer interested in Veldspar, as the other ores are better. So you can get rid of it in the Overview so you can see the Pyroxeres and other asteroids more easily.

2. Install a Survey Scanner to a mid slot in your mining ship. The Survey Scanner has very minor skill requirements, and is very cheap. If you scan the asteroid belt with it, it will show you a list of all the asteroids, and how much ore is in each, so you can go directly to the biggest / richest one.

If I'm Caldari and go into Gallente space can I be attacked by NPC's there?
Looking for some Jaspet and read I will find it in Gallente space.
Also how can I tell which space belongs to each faction on the map?

Nope. As long as it's HiSec you can mine where you like.

This: http://org.coloradomesa.edu/~gbswift/Images/EVEMaphalf.jpg is a good overview of Empire space for newbros.

The faction NPCs will only attack you if your standings with the respective empire are extremely low.

As for hunting out specific ores, you might find it a better use of your time to mine the most valuable ores, sell them on the market, and use the ISK to buy the ores or minerals that you actually need.

I'd like some Jaspet for a mission I'm on but it's hard to find.

Jaspet is easily found in:

  1. Low sec system (seurity status <0.4, anyone can and will shoot you)
  2. The Market
Solonius Rex
Federal Navy Academy
Gallente Federation

Jaspet is usually in lowsec. You can sometimes find it as sites in hisec, but its rare.

this is a decent guide on where each ore is located.
