Steam - launcher error

So I have an old Steam version of EvE that is not linked to EvE. Since the alpha clone patch it is not possible to start EvE within Steam anymore. Everytime I start the launcher the launcher is 'trying to create an account' and won't let me login with my existing old account. When I close Steam and start the launcher directly I can login just fine. I want to have Steam (overlay) active like I always had for taking screenshots and chat etc.

Only this first day after the release of the new update I was able to login and play through Steam, since then I keep getting that message on the login screen. There seems to be something messed up with the launcher and now tries to link all Steam versions of EvE while only the recently bought versions of Steam can be linked to EvE.

I created a support ticket, but I only get a useless copy/paste response about email verification, while that is not related to my issue.
