So I bought the character http://eveboard.com/pilot/Gallente_Citizen_1878801485 for 3.5b ISK for the reason that its name is reset and therefore 'renamable' but now that I recieved the character I see it is already has some name (Phantex). See image: http://imgur.com/a/SeVVy

This was not disclosed before sale and not shown on eveboard either.

Rule 6. The sell post must reflect the character correctly

I would like to cancel the sale based on false information provided. GM / Customer support help please?

I would not blame the guy for beeing incorrect.
Never the less, you should open a support request...

either CCP has given a random name or they have chosen the old name, which has been removed in past.

Yeah, not blaming. Just frustrated since I would not spend 3.5 bil on a named character, despite being old.

As recently as yesterday you could search Gallente_Citizen_1878801485 in game and the correct character would turn up. As soon as I got the confirmation e-mail that a character named Phantex is about to be transferred to me I went in-game again to search for it found nothing.

For example evewho.com doesn't find Phantex so I assume the name got 'activated' in some database during transfer.


I have also in the past bought a character with the name Gallente Citizen ###### without problems.

I totally agree with you and it sounds fully feasible...

But have you every bougth an unnamed char AFTER the damned patch in November which has introduced also many problems with Alphas and Omegas?

Especially Alphas belonging to the corp "Doomheim"....? Shocked

I think CCP will change the name, if you ask them to do so in this special case.



Well, Phantex is ok, imagine you would get a confirmation mail like
"The char SuckMyRocket123 will be transfer to your account..."

First of all, sorry for this inconvenience.

I never thought the character's name could change. I've sold a pilot with a similar name before without any of these issues. The name of the character did appear as "Phantax" when selecting a character for transfer but I assumed this was a cache issue. The pilot's name was showing up as "Gallente Citizen xxxx" in-game, on the forums, on eve-gate and eve-board.
I've opened a ticket for this issue as well, hoping to resolve the issue asap. In case renaming the pilot isn't possible, but undo'ing the trade is, I'm ofcourse accepting that as a solution as well.
