Alpha Clones and Citadels

Hello,

I've been reading up on Citadels for the past few hours, ever since I found one in game, and am fascinated by them. So far I've gotten the most info from http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Citadels The only thing is this link doesn't go into the nitty gritty of it all, like the skills needed and etc...

See I'm having a ton of fun with the game right now and one of my goals is to try to push the limits as far and as much as possible with an Alpha clone. So when I discovered citadels I immediately had the idea of how cool would it be if a bunch of Alpha's could band together to create and run one of these behemoths. A citadel base created by Alphas, for Alphas.

But is it even possible? Would we have the required skills and ships big enough to do it? Hoping for some more links to reading so I can learn more about this and maybe push this idea forward in the future, mayeb a few months form now as I settle into the game more and more.

Any help and information on this would be greatly appreciated

Explains a bit of what goes into building a Titan, which is much smaller than a citadel.

The main thing to keep in mind is that in Eve "a bunch" of players, when referring to constructing major structures is thousands of players. Also, you're looking at years just to learn the skills to build the darn thing. As is, Alphas can't learn the skills, but in theory they could harvest the resources and pay someone else to do it. Considering that the Blueprint cost 700b Isk, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

also, more specifically relevant. Building a citadel.

I believe Alphas can do everything except actually deploying the Citadel itself, although I could be wrong.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Thanks for the info.

So it sounds like it's possible, but not very probably as it'll take a whole lot of money and time. Well that just has me even more determined to try it. It might take months before it is finished, or before I even begin on the project really, and I will definitely need some help outside of Alpha characters it seems. But it's definitely something I have in mind now and will be slowly building a plan for as I learn and grow in this game. I guess we'll see how things go.

Thanks again!

Isn't there also an alpha restriction on fueling towers? I think it is in the CSM minutes and is there to prevent players from just making a ton of throw-away accounts to eliminate travel.

I am not sure it applies to the new structures like Citadels, but I would guess it does.

Citadels are built from structure components which require Industry 5 - this is an Alpha skill so you can build the components.

The Citadel itself requires Outpost Construction 1 which has Mechanics, Anchoring and Industry level 5 as prerequisites. This skill is not part of the Alpha set.

The components are made from minerals and planetary materials. PI skills are not included in the Alpha set either but you may be able to setup 1 colony without any skills - I can't remember. Without the ability to upgrade the command center it will be very limited but will give a taste of the gameplay (hint: boring clickfest)

There is no reason Alpha players can't participate in the process but you'll need to join a corporation that includes Omega players.

While blueprint originals are expensive you can buy copies on contract at quite reasonable prices. Eve markets are competitive and quite efficient.

It sounds like you could do this as an alpha clone if you also budget in an extra 1.5ish billion to buy a single PLEX.

You would activate the PLEX when the citadel was ready to go up, and train the anchoring skill and deploy the citadel.

As someone who has actually been involved in the deployment of a citadel I would STRONGLY advise you to have a plan for that first 15 minute vulnerability window. That plan probably involves having lots of friends if you are setting up outside of high sec. Consider hiring a decent merc corp.
