NPC mining fleets and faction / corp fighting

I am Caldari and have a high standing with them, because of this, I have a negative standing with Gallente. I stay in Caldari controlled territory due to my standings, but all the mining fleets I have seen are Caldari related corps. I do not wish to lower my hard earned standings, therefore I do not attack them.
I propose adding a way to increase standings with these corps by adding a way to help defend them from attackers. You could also add NPC faction and corp fighting. This could be achieved by adding in NPC corp fleets that players can join. If a player joins a fighting fleet, they could receive a mission to join the NPCs to attack or defend a mining fleet under attack. Also, players could join a mining fleet and can be give a mission to defend the fleet. Players could receive standings only, players would still receive bounties, from each kill.
This would add more activities for players, and I believe it will also increase PvP activity due to players joining into opposite fleets. It could also add in opportunities for later development into Faction Wars or something else.
There are a large number of players, like myself, who do not have the time for null sec or those who wish to PvE only. This would provide new content for us as well as adding content for those who wish to PvP in the high sec. With the added fighting, more ships will be lost, adding more opportunities for the production and mining players.

The mining fleets are the first of many such npc's.

I expect we'll have npc's running patrols in eachothers empires at some point.
