I want to get into Eve again, however now I have gone full linux user and I do not plan to go back. Ever.

I downloaded evelauncher-1097946.tar.gz and extracted it. Ran loglite + eve launcher.

Everything was running smoothly up until "Finished task "Downloader for Tranquility". The next log items were

Quote:
Couldn't open index file "/home/user/.eve//ResFiles/56/5610a6eb8b5a4975_483a673ea2ee9bd4b61e41016408372c"
Couldn't open index file "/home/user/.eve//ResFiles/56/5610a6eb8b5a4975_483a673ea2ee9bd4b61e41016408372c"
No prefetch index found for "Tranquility"
Scheduled task "Copier for Tranquility"
Starting task "Copier for Tranquility"
"Copier for Tranquility" go: 0

This isn't good. After that point the install tried to copy files that were not there.

This goes on for many different files until I killed it.

Quick facts:

  • Ran it as sudo
  • folders do exists
  • Using Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64-Bit
  • Using AMD GPU (Radeon drivers), AMD CPU
  • The computer IS on.
  • ext4 file system.

Same here. I'm gonna try the same thing Doom Ormand tried in here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6713848#post6713848

and let you know what happens.

Ok! Got it working!

I installed the client on my Win7 laptop and copied the missing files in .eve/ResFiles/56.

Also, make sure that the latest custom wine is selected in the launcher under Settings > Wine options > wine-1.9.10-ccp-daily-16

Under "Client Settings" in the launcher, make sure that Tranquility is selected under Source and Target and that both are using the default profile.

I'm not sure if there's something else but that's what I did, restarted the launcher, waited until everything had downloaded and it finally started. Note that once Eve starts it might take some time before the character selection screen appears (2-3 mins for me). But it eventually did and everything works fine!

Thanks to CCP Snorlax for making this! With this and Civilization V, I was finally able to ditch Windows on my main PC! Big smile

Is there ANYONE that is reading this that can give me one of those files please? I have been at this for 2 days straight. My reddit post is here.

I have reinstalled my OS and everything. After a ton of research I found this thread and other threads like it. I too am missing a single file.

On linux Ubuntu it is located here:

home/.eve/ResFiles/83/831e3f7afbd5e7e0_d58a99e6c560f91cca58a77ca9ded442

Located in folder /83/ of folder ResFiles

it is simply named: 831e3f7afbd5e7e0_d58a99e6c560f91cca58a77ca9ded442

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Could you elaborate what exactly you deleted? The ~/.eve directory? I was assuming that somewhere some download cache is borked.
