Will an old account be useable with FTP game?

Hi all,
I'd played for a few months a couple of years ago and I don't think my account is that high a lvl. Before I download the client and try it out, is there any way to check if I would be able to log into the game? I'd rather play as the free Alpha clone. Any ideas?

You should have no trouble logging in, old accounts are supposed to be converted automatically to Alpha state.

yep,..it's all good..I had an old account from Launch that still worked.

Although get ready to figure out anything,..the character sheet changed so much,..it will take awhile to make heads or tails of where you left off.

and it will sadden you to see all the skills you are locked out of,...

I logged in today with an old account with over 80 mill sp.

I could not train any skills.

I found I could fly a standard cruiser or standard frigate and a standard ore mining frigate or a corvette which is a figate, but I could not equip any turrets. T1 missiles on a T1 frig = nope. T1 hybrids = nope. I did not check to see if civilian turrets would work though but I am not going to be fitting a ship with "civilian" anything.

So you can fly a couple ships but you cannot defend yourself. Can't fly industrials on an alpha account either. Can't fly battleships or any capital ships to speak of. Can't fit any T2 anything So sounds like you can just be a target for other people to shoot without any way to defend yourself.


In my opinion, this was not very well thought out and is too restrictive. So, an old player can log back in but good luck doing anything constructive.

You are restricted to your own race ships = Amarr for you. Lasers + Drones, armor defenses. So, if you were trying to fly Minmatar or autocannons or whatever, of course it didn't work.

You can do roams in frigate, destroyer, cruiser (again, Amarr only). You can get together with friends or join pick-up fleets.

Or, feel free to do what you could do before the patch: be unable to log in at all.
