The voice clips are easy to redo and not that costly.... though I don't know what else they have planned for that voice. After playing a bunch of hours I don't think the voice actress itself is so bad (though I know a better more suited one, see my earlier comment), but it's the way she talks that makes it sound meh. It's no longer a calm voice, but as others have stated, it sounds like someone that had to much coffee.


They won't change anything. Couple of days time and there'll be an excitable dev post about new skins for Parkinson's Disease, funkier animation on some ship you could only fly if you trained for 20 years, a new theme tune that no-one listens to, and CCP Guard in probably another Permaband video - smoke and mirrors to detract you from the fact that..

..they won't be changing Aura back. Period.

If there is something good for years there is no reason to change it. If the reason for changing Aura's voice was making a narration voice than they should just have done that and leave Aura as it was. The narration voice should have been a male or female voice (depending on your caracter's gender) "in your head" and just leave Aura as the ship's voice.

Yeah I'm sure comparing futuristic space A.I voice sounds just like that when compared to 2016 A.I used in smartphones.. Except comparing the two and acting on it comes from the mindset of a dunce.

A decade long game with the inability to swap music files based on user preference is pathetic, and claiming that "it would be difficult" to do so is entirely wrong.

But it's not in line with a futuristic space MMORPG is it? So, creative was wrong, right? At least admit making a decision blasted by literally every single poster mentioning the new voice in this thread.

Sometimes I think changes are made for changes sake..... But wow, new voice.... not good. Old Aura was very soothing, new voice is wasted space on my HD. Can see it now...

Long time player here giving some rare feedback.

1A. Two-way Auth.....get F*ck...Like how that was forced on us. Even if only a one time thing.

1B. After multiple times logging in and telling the launcher to save my username and PW, it apparently thinks thats optional, as it simply wont remember them one the launcher is closed and opened again....Never liked the launcher so no love for it here and now.

2. I haven't played with sound on since 2011....turned it on today...yup. Simply sloppy. sounds off agian.

3. Chart. Sheet....did you guys share a crack pipe and decide after smoke a fat rock it looked good?....nuf said. Did anyone with more then 100m SP even attempt to use this garbage? Oh you did? LIES...

4. Fitting window. the EFT on it is a nice touch, but the amount of cluster*ckary is extraordinary, albeit a tad cleaner? IDK. Time will tell on this one.

5A. Gang links. while I won't disagree it was needed, this new change is...well lacking really. Max skills leadership + Max ship skills+implant. super impenitent...like floppy c*ck weak. Needs range and time buff by say 25% more just to make it worth using the ammo for it. While I think the direction is good, the implementation is not.

5B. The new icons are kinda cool for the links, kudos on that art team. but not having seeded a small stock of command possessors was weak AF.

6. This reminding me I'm an omega player is redundant, and all the stuff that's built to remind me is annoying, IE. yellow borders, popup window telling me. way to cater to the lowest common nerd....

while there is more to elaborate on. I feel at page 15 this is all fallen on def ears, and its not like you guys are know for rolling back bad changes. As i stated above, been around for a while now. Seen some great expansions and some very terrible ones. I would say this falls somewhere on the better side, but not by much. At least you guys are trying and give 1\2 a sh!t about what's going on in the game.

P.S. At least this expansion didn't nix the boot.ini file :P

If you guys really want to change the Aura's voice, choose a good actress like you did for Eve Valkyrie ! I'm sure Katee Sackhoff would accept the job !

Pretty sure they made a database backup before they updated the servers including all the bios. However when they can fix it is another question.

CCP, please allow us to toggle the old Aura voice for anything she has existing lines for. I am not insulting the talent of the new voice actress, but the old Aura is EVE to me. I know some might not agree but I feel that Aura is to EVE what SHODAN is to System Shock and GLaDOS is to Portal.

As someone who can't stand Aura's original voice and has wished it gone for years, it says a great deal about the way CCP' operate that the replacement has me yearning for a return to the original.

you only know how good something really is until its gone
