According to eve offline , at 14:00 today were registered over 1200 new accounts. That is 10 times the usual average during last 10 months...

I am disappointed in the alphas, however. I was hoping that they could launch cynos so that I could use a jump freighter, but that's out. And I they can't use a cloaking device, so they're not very useful as scouts. Both devices require Omega level skills.

Oh well....

want something useful? pay ccp to make your job easier, alpha clones making your omega clone easier for free is not what the alpha clones are about, this has been discussed since they announced it

I play solo quite a bit, and I was looking for ways to avoid having to PLEX a second account to interact with Null sec more effectively. I have read a number of the posts on this expansion, and I understood that it was always the intent to limit the roles of Alpha characters to mostly High sec activity, but there were a few comments that suggested that they might be able to play low-skilled roles in Null sec. It's quite clear from this, however, that CCP seesNull sec as a "team activity" and solo players will always be hobbled there. So, I'll focus on High Sec industry, Low sec PvP and write off the rest of the game.

After all, it's a game; I'm not going to lose any sleep over this, but I was hoping to be able to be more engaged in "wrecking their dreams".

By the way, I could run Incursions often enough that I could PLEX a second account to do this, so it isn't about money for me, and it wouldn't affect CCP's income if I did convert a second account to Omega skills. But, it would take about half my playing time each month, and I don't want to work that hard at it.

the more the merrier.
So far eves community is really welcoming. Even assholes will help people out.
But everyone wants the game to grow. And noobies are the lifeblood of any game.
Looking good so far

thats exactly why the alphas dont allow this, it was clearly mentioned numerous times why giving alphas the ability to cloak and use cynos would be abused majorly, you cant even log in an omega with an alpha as extra security this doesnt happen, youre a killmail waiting to happen if you dont have scouts and cyno's for your jump freighter.

It'll depend entirely on how good the NPE (tutorial) is as to whether "new" players stick around.

By "new" I mean people who don't have friends who play already.

All of the previous tutorials have been somewhat lacklustre to say the least. I'm not sure this iteration will change my viewpoint.

The game has been around for how long?

The people that wanted to try it have for the most part.

I think the result will be lots of tourists.

Fingers crossed they drop some $ on a plex and some skins before the vacation is over.

what sort of marketing would you do? ive seen all the major gaming media oulets push this feature for months

Good if so. Really. Cause I noticed only few banners in youtube side panel (apparently because I do play or follow the EVE tutorials) and couple of articles some time ago. I think that current clone change is the maximum what can be done to get absolutely new people into eve universe. So I would expect CCP to really use that to propagate the game heavely. Now or never.

The fact that you've seen any says that there's an ad push on, and Lan is right, I've seen about a dozen articles or more on the upcoming Alpha Clone feature since it was announced. Anyone with any interest in Eve and higher average media consumption than a luddite knows this feature is here.

There is no new, only old. Different faces, same consciousness. EvE is a festering hive mind of crumbs and sweat and cheese and alts.

Nah, I saw a genuine new player today when testing the new intro-sequence for players. Someone posted "This game is nuts." in chat. P

i ran the 3rd largest gaming community in dust..... there might be minimal 5000 - 10 000 people that played dust.... dust ussually had about 5000 - 10 000 people logged on at a time.... alot roughly 20 min a day less so a lot of people log in and out of that i estimate dust easily had 500 000 different people try the game i imagine about 100 000 -200 000 people played the game.... on my ps4 in the i survived dust channels and others theres over 300 dust players that know each other looking to see whats good in this game dust players will play the #### out of eve

Well, to be honest I have not played in a long time so when I heard it was going FTP I was very excited. Needless to say now that it's here and I see I can't really train to any real degree it's pretty disappointing.

Sort of like if World of Warcraft said its now free to play as long as you never leave the starter zone and and level above level 10. This is not THAT bad but it's still clearly just a vehicle for alts and not an actual FTP game as any other FTP game out there would define it.

Games like Path of Exile and World of Tanks etc...that is what I would define as FTP without the Pay to Win aspect either.

This is really more a NO TIME LIMIT demo and they should call it as such.

Hello all.

I'm a newbie and at same time...not! Got more than 10kk on skills and going, now with the limit of 24h (bummer!).

I was waiting for this day to come so I could, at least learn a bit more of the game, cause in a way, it's scary... you can do everything and so, you might end doing nothing... I'm in this point.

Yeah, for the oldies, new guys to blew, steal, lie and the such, but you all should remember that this new input, that might drop in few months with the lost of this momento, new miners, pve, pvp and trolls will appear, all for the gain of the economy, corporations and, yes, the game. I agree that most are returning players, like me, and some, few, are new on the game.

So instead of treating us as meat, try to see our potential.

Finally I see this FTP as a way to convive us to become Omega, as I was, with access to all. Till then, I just scrap the surface of the game, but if, in the end, I get a better understanding of the game, it will pay off.

Cya around

PS: by the way looking for a smooth corporation, so if you are recruiting, give me a buzz on my mail! Thanks fellows

As far as advertising goes, I went into the At&t store and their Virtual Head thing was advertising EVE.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.
