Easily the quickest route I've ever seen to driving new players away from Eve. Nothing is going to make a new player say 'well this is stupid' quicker than being repeatedly killed, and not understanding how he died, or why. This is taking things way too far, and I seriously hope CCP takes a firm stance against this all out war on brand new players.

CCP won't take a stance.
Its akin to an emperor giving the tax-paying unwashed some fresh slaves to see slaughtered in the arena. Keeps 'em keen and paying for another year.

Nice post. Would you like to put ALL your money in a skiff and go mining in it in NPC Null? You or I can deal with the losses, noobs can't. That's the difference!

Anyone capable of undocking in a Skiff is not a newb. Look at the skill requirements. IIRC it's 40 days to sit in one.

Ships in EVE are consumables and newbs may as well learn this early on in their career. I lost my first destroyer to rats (that level 2 security mission that's way harder than the other ones). Lost another ship or two to players soon after subscribing too.

In CODE. at least (including supporters like me that are outside the alliance) we are pretty good at outreach to people under a month old that lose a ship to us. Most clients have been checked - before engaging we will know whether you are likely to be high skilled or low skilled, about how many EHP you are likely to have, and whether you have a permit or not.

We've probably checked your PVP experience on that character (killboards) and have definitely checked your character creation date.

All of these factors will impact our outreach. Someone losing their 7th failfit Covetor of the month in one belt will get a very different post-gank EVEmail to someone losing their first ship ever. Someone with a history of impressive solo kills will get a different response again.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Welcome back ...

To the players who want to hunt down the returning Alpha/Omegas - "Perspective - use it or lose it" - Richard Bach

To CCP - you're either giddy you've motivated your pre-existing, stagnant player base to gleefully hunt down the briefly-returning former customers to EVE, or you're horrified and genuinely pissed your new soon-to-be-gone source of new revenue is being hunted down for fun and profit by your [edit: declining] streams of revenue.

Fact : companies that focus on success through customer experience do 70% better than those that don't. The only customers who are going to enjoy this experience are the ones you've got already. Bottom line, once I read this thread my credit card went back in my wallet ...

As a former member of a corporation whose 'whiskey papa' tactics were banned so all you crotchety Omegas can fly your precious capitol ships without being eaten alive by frigates, I see no problem with CCP severely banning players who practice hunting returning alpha/omegas for fun and profit. None.

In the end, CCP, you're either going to craft an experience all players to enjoy, or not.

Good Hunting!

Yup, you and Foxbolt trying to protect CCP's bottom line.
Good luck calling out CCP's financial peeps, I am sure they were just waiting on your input.

I will be trying for first place on my freshly minted Alpha, having fun while these gloom-n-doom carebears cry about EVE not being wow.

Wow, CODE makes an event to kill especially noobs in HS. That will certainly help Eve getting more players!
So CODE is so cheap that they can't kill seasoned player any more but targets players that can't shoot back and can't afford the losses?

Why don't you not just rename to GrEVE and make destroying the Eve playerbase your main objective? At least it would be more honest then to call this an event!

Sorry, but I can't express how angry I am about this intentional destroying the fun of noobs and demoralizing them without risking permaban! Could you even think about one step further then your killboard filled with things that can't shoot back? Maybe trying to keep this game alive instead killing it? Or thinking that it is more fun to shoot seasoned players instead of collecting noob scalps?

Apparently you don't understand the contest and are making wild assumptions. Please point to the part of the contest rules where contestants are to target noobs.

the funny thing is I think #2 through #7 are good fun and I'll be trying for a couple of them, but item #1 is exactly the kind of thing that CCP has in the past taken action against (and not just in newbie systems).

I'd suggest dropping #1 and just focus on 2 through 7, still plenty of targets.

I could create a new char on my Omega Account and call it an Alpha. Your rules don't ask for any kind of proof.

Alpha Clones can only use certain modules and ships. If you want to fake the system, you will stand out anyway. Easy to spot!

There's a reason Rule 1. exists. If you think you can become no.1 in #1 by being selective and target these characters only, well, you'll be burned out the first week already.

Vets creating a new account know how to avoid most ganking attempts so the main group that will get killed in this event will be noobs. If you target especially new players when there is an update that is intended to draw in new players this is damaging to EVE! Normal ganking is bad enough for noobs but you are stepping up the killing of noobs.

Nice post. Not a word about the unfairness of killing people that are just learning how to play EVE. You are worried about the gankers getting banned but not about the new players. If CCP wouldn't ban you, you would camp the career agent undock to get the most kills? Of cause, it would be for the good of EVE so the new players learn that there is nowhere save in New Eden..........
