D-scan and the new combat probe interface

Hey all,

I'm returning from a bit of a hiatus, I'm having a hell of a time getting used to using d-scan and combat probes in tandem in the new (to me anyway) probe interface.

Back in the day, I'd drop probes, go into the solar system map, and use d-scan in combination with the probes to scan down what i'm looking for. I was able to hold down the right mouse button to pan around the screen, and double click on objects, including scan sigs, to re-center the camera.

Now, it seems that I'm unable to pan around and the camera is locked on my ship - i'm unable to change focus to something else, and i'm unable to pan. Using the 'old' solar system map doesn't seem to be an option, as my testing indicates that the dscan no longer works properly there.

Am I missing a config checkbox somewhere or something?

You can in the new map have d-scan cone follow the camera (in the map) if that is what you're looking for?

Otherwise in space, just hold "c" and click the celestial should "track" said object with the camera, which will be the direction you're scanner is looking.

Also speaking about dscan and probes, you can now see your d-scan cone in the map allowing you to place the probes right on target after successful dscan. Happy hunting.

Get on Comms, or die typing.

Close - I don't want to track something, i want to center the camera on it. my issue is that if i'm very far away from something, it's difficult to get a close look at where the probes are centered. what i want is to either be able to pan the camera like holding the right mouse button used to do (you can do it now, but it always snaps back to your location), or to be able to do what double clicking something used to do, which is to center the camera on something other than your ship, so i can zoom in nice and close on what i'm scanning and get the probes just right, without being right on top of it already...

Figured it out - I had the dscan set to align with the camera, which is handy. however it looks like that forces the focus to be on your ship, which i guess makes sense. turning off the align with camera solved my problem.
