Market Price History Graph

Hello CCP,

So there seems to be a design problem with the new Graph UI in the Price History Tab of the market. There is no way I can find to recenter the y-axis data points when I change the scale of the graph using the center scroll wheel on my mouse. If I zoom in to reduce the size of the scale the data points end up disappearing below the viewable part of the graph.

Is there a way to recenter the data on the graph that I am not seeing or is this something that needs to be worked on further?

Thanks,

There's a button that looks like the "refresh" button in a webbrowser in the lower left corner that appears after you used the scroll wheel.

Yes that is the reset button, it resets the scale, but it does there is no way to recenter the data points AFTER changing the scale of the y-axis.

This is important because if you compare the graphs in Jita, of say a caracal over the last year, It works fine because the price stays within a 10-13m band and the outliers are around 18m. These numbers allow the graph to auto-generate at nice scale all centered and neat looking.

Now compare that graph to the full year of Machariel in Jita. The price stays around 100-500m all year execpt for 1 sale on Jan. 29 where some poor bastard paid 4.3b for a Mach. This outlier totally screws up the graph. It changes the scale so drastically that I can't recenter it or recscale it to a reasonable level.

Yeah, if the new market graph had a beta checkbox, I'd turn that thing off in a heartbeat.

In its current state, it is objectively worse at conveying useful information.

Well, to be honest what the current scrollwheel functionality is good for never ocurred to me, but I thought that it might be something for all those finance cracks out there. Personally I'd have the window calculate the price average for the currently selected timespan, always keep the vertical center fixed on that line and zoom in/out from there. But that's just me maybe.

EDIT: This wouldn't solve the problem with the 4b Mach, but at least you could configure your selected timespan to not include the outlier.

EDIT2: Seems the whole thing is still a work in progress. There's a thread about it in the test server feedback subforum where you may have a good chance to speak with CCP Antiquarian directly.
