Dear CCP
I want to ask you one question, how long do you plan to do notheing about plex system? It is very easy to make it, and you just dont see it. Price of plex rise and will rise infinity because of speculants and because of you CCP who never set a limit how far
speculation can go. It hurts eve player base so badly - eve is more like a graveyard now then a real mmo for this days.

Just :

1. block conversion plex->aurum (add some new oportunitis to buy aurum but not using plex)
2. set max time limit player can purshes using plex system to 3 months (now it is 12 if i am corrected)
3. add usage time for all plex, so they can be only used max 3 months after real purshing using real money - after that time limit
plex should be not usefull at all - it kilks speculants very quickly, and we will se many plex from many huge stacks
on market in small price.

after 6 months you will have 5 times more active players or even more, eve will be reborn.
what kill eve are rtm speculants you should destroy them faster then they destroy this game.

hope you can understand what i am saying, my english is bad :p.
best regards.

f2p coming soon, you will no longer need PLEX to play forever. I think that is the way CCP wants to deal with it.

Cant quite tell, is this an EVE is dying thread or a PLEX thread.
You kind of mixed both of them together for a redundant thread smoothie.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

If CCP really wanted to keep the PLEX price down, they would do something involving the idiots who get blown up while hauling PLEX from one station to another.

Maybe have it that when a PLEX is destroyed in a ship explosion it causes a random rat somehwere in Eve to drop a PLEX. Which would do the following:
- Increase supply of PLEX, because we aren't losing any to stupidity. Ever PLEX purchased will survive until its redeemed or the account holding it gets banned.
- Cause more players to loot any rats they kill because there might be a PLEX in them. Slowing down how fast they kill them, thus slowing bounty payouts, thus slowing inflation and the rate PLEX price increase.

Personally I don't see the skyrocketing price of PLEX as a problem, as it hurts RMT because anyone selling ISK outside of the PLEX system finds that they get less $ per hour of farming. So I wouldn't implement that change to control the PLEX<>ISK price.

But I would be tempted to implement it to troll players. Which is why it's a good thing I'm not involved in game design.

you dont belive with what you writing... people who take over plex market dont ever rat. They have tones of isk, because they have slaves aka alliance members who works for them. There is too many not used plex laying on huge stacks in this game. Everyone, this big and this small collect them because price of plex may only rise.
this speculation of plex is so unfair as sommerblink and is main reason why eve is not rising. State alpha will not help.

Plex price is governed more by mmo industry trends, oil prices, and geopolitics than by speculators.
The changes you suggest would stop the speculators, but the price would still rise.
You'd still be mad, and you would look for another scapegoat.

Do you really think players will downgrade their high SP characters to Alpha state? That they will give up their 100+ mil SP chars? That they will do PvE in T1 fit Vexors instead of maxxed out pirate battleships?

I dont think EVE can go full F2P and only generate revenue by selling cosmetics and progress boosters. There is 0 Avatar gameplay and ship SKINs also dont matter much because you spend most of your time zoomed out.

The price of a PLEX has been constant as long as I have been playing the game - $19.95 with discounts for volume and occasional sales. The value has also been constant - 30 days of game time.

The only thing that fluctuates is the exchange rate between PLEX and ISK and that is determined by players. If more players want to use ISK to purchase PLEX and pay for gametime - the price will go up. If new players want to sell PLEX for ISK to buy stuff in game, the price will go down. No magic involved and no intervention required.

I don't see why CCP would interfere to drop the isk price of plex, after all if you are paying more to buy it, then the people who bought it of CCP are getting more in return for their cash.

It is a better deal for people with RL cash and subsequently they are more likely to purchase them at a higher rate, so CCP is likely to get more cash. CCP is a business and they dont pay their staff and rent using in-game currency.

The CSM gets in the way of CCP communicating properly with the players of this game.

After all we are not just players, we are customers.

Time for the CSM to be disbanded.

I sense this is a troll thread. But hey, I'll bite and assume this is actually serious. If it's really a troll thread, well done.

You are making it seem that the price of PLEX is strictly governed by speculators. The reality is that the price of PLEX is mainly determined by the simple laws of supply and demand. There are other factors as well such as the usefulness of PLEX which has increased over time to include (in addition to game time):

* conversion to AUR so that AUR can be used to purchase blingy vanity items
* sell to another player for ISK so that the ISK can be used for more bling
* redeemed for secondary training (your alt)
* redeemed for resculpting of your character
* used to purchase Eve Fanfest Tickets
* Help with charity events such as PLEX for Good

My biggest gripe with your suggestions is the one about your idea of implementing a usage time limit to PLEX. That is the single most silly idea I have ever heard and I will tell you why.

It hurts the end-users far more than the speculators because those people are the ones who spent money (either cash or ISK) to get that PLEX with the intent to actually use them later on and they will get real mad and quite possibly decide to quit Eve Online altogether because they have likely spent a lot of money to get a good deal on that PLEX Bundle so they can store it for a rainy day only to see all of that stash become completely useless. It's like buying a brand new car, storing it in the garage for 3 months without using it and then find out it will never work even with all of the maintenance you performed on it to get it started again and after all of that money you spent on it. Now you have to buy a brand new car and make sure you use it within 3 months but you are most likely to never buy another one because what's the point.

That's not including the impact such a change would have on the sell orders for PLEX that have been sitting on the secondary market for 3 months and that's not including the time it between purchasing it with cash and having it posted on the market at Jita 4-4. Of course that's assuming the usage time limit persists through the sell orders. If not, I can find ways to get around that by going to an isolated system, post it locally on the market, and then have an alt on a separate account buy it quickly before someone notices and then have the usage time limit reset that way.

Time Limit Rendered Useless.

In other words, this is never going to happen on CCP's watch.

You dont only loose access to blinged battleships, but all T2 and big ships. No intys, cov ops, HACs, exhumers, freighters, T3 destroyers, BCs, etc. You basically loose all the stuff you have trained skills for. You cant even get all the core skills as Alpha.

The original post is proof enough that plex' isk price is low.

If the isk price of a plex was high, the original poster would be interested in buying plex with RL money to convert it to isk.

Since the OP is worried about converting isk into plex, it means it's still low, just not as low as he wished.

On the other hand, plex price in isk is not as high as people who buy it for RL money would like.
