Best throwaway ship to pick off frigates and destroyers?

Hello,

So as the topic states: I'd like to get a not too expensive ship to pick off frigs, I've been using the caracal for some time now, however the dps with standard launchers is a bit low for my liking.

The other thing is that there is a fair chance I'll often be outnumbered, so the option to kill as many enemy frigs/dessies before I go down, perhaps trough EHP or Kiting, is a plus.

Other things I was thinking about:

-stabber? (somewhat decent kiting setup seems to have close to frig ehp)
-(nano-) Cane? (looks good but one of the more 'expensive' options, and I have doubts about tracking (425 AC's?) and wouldn't I be dead when I get scrambled? (which will happen))
- Stealth bomber, AF, ......

So I come here to ask the forums with their infinite wisdom; got any goods ideas/fits that I'm more than likely forgetting?

Thanks!

First of all I assume you mean assault launchers when you talked about your caracal.

and I would suggest vexor and arbitrator.
A Vexor with small guns, 1600mm plate and light drones should be able to kill frigs quite easily.

If you're against small stuff, you won't find much better than the AML Caracal imo. (at least in the throwaway category).
A plated rupture with 180's is also an option.
The cane can be fit in a similar way, with two plates, but the price tag goes way up and you might have trouble catching said small stuff.

Stealth bomber ? Hell no.

Or you could use weapons that are designed for cruiser sized ships? Aka not for frigates.

I need new signature.

Armor cane with dual webs and scram. Bait them in, lay down the tackle and watch them panic when they get you to armor.

An AML caracal is hard to beat for frig killing, I do enjoy using my assault frig at times.

I dont know how you're gonna bait frigs with a cane...

stabber, caracal and rupture all work fine.

vexor is a bad choice, a catalyst will melt one in say 12 seconds max.

a good counter, would be a catalyst :P, but this time speed!, 2x overdrives, damage control. ab or mwd, warp dis.
damage and rof rigs. in the top slots all gatling rails use antimatter. KITE THEM!

Show me a catalyst fit that will kill a 29k ehp vexor in 12 seconds.

Top 8 highs t2 ions.
Mids, Shield extender and ab, or if tackle is needed, scram and ab
bottom 3 t2 mag stabs.
Drone: t2 Hobgoblin.

damage and rof rigs.
Dps with current skills: 410.
Top possible dps without overheating, 600 and about 720 with overheat.

this is a typical gank cata, kill em or die trying.

im not saying its a smart thing to kill your vexor with.

however with a slightly diff fit you will be able to eat the vexors drones and dodge the guns, although a thrasher would be a better choice, speed tanked and medium shield booster with 7 guns and nos, can kill almost any frig, has trouble with other destroyers, kills almost any cruiser, bc and easily battleships.

Don't underestimate.

7x AMLs
1x MED neut

Mids:
Some combination of webs, point, shields and tank.

Lows: BCUs, DC.

Rigs: either tank or damage

Drones: Warrior II's

Too lazy to EFT it if you didn't notice.

Solo artie thrashers cannot one-volley proper fitted PvP frigs or Dessies alike.

There are a lot of "cheap" ships to kill them, but i wouldn't say that there are "safe" bets when really cheap.
The cheaper are ofc other Dessies, but don't think "one-volleying" them.

Other potent ships are ofc cruisers. Think buffer tank, neuts and proper tackle (at least scram + web, could be scram + 2x webs). Add DPS. Thorax, Rupture, Arbitrator, Vexor and AML Caracal are good, but feared. Stabber, Moa, Maller, Bellicose, Celestis can do it and are less feared. Osprey and Exequror can do it and are completely intimidated.

So most cruisers with pvp fits can do it when fitted for the task - don't know about them being throw-away priced tho - aka meta 1-3 modules tops. And that is fair, as most "bad-@@s" T1 frigs and dessies do fit at least 80% T2 modules (guns, dmg mods etc), ending up priced 10-20+ fold their hull price.
