I have started my first trial account in Eve several days ago. I like the game but I am not going to pay for it in the first couple of month becouse it will be f2p very soon and even restricted alpha clone have way too many possibilities for me as a new player.
But. Will I be able to play my expired trial account (as an alpha clone) when the f2p starts?

isn't there a cap on how much you can train while on alpha clone?

Yes. 5 million skillpoints worth of skills can be trained.
And you can only train ships belonging to the race of your character.

Train wisely.

Not only is there a 5m skill cap, but the skills are also individually capped, and many skills are unavailable. But yea, it's enough that a new player can get a few months without feeling restricted by those caps too much.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

There's some good insights regarding skills by Tippia here: http://blog.beyondreality.se/Newbie-skill-plan-2

Best use since it's quite old now, is probably as a guideline until alpha clone skills and level cap will occur.

From what I understand there isn't a SP skill cap, but still the individual cap on skills. Unless you have seen this in an updated dev blog or post, Alphas will be able to train all of the listed skills up to the described levels here:

https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/introducing-clone-states-and-the-future-of-access-to-eve-online/

Up to the stated level as determined by their race. The "5 million" sp, is simply what having all of those skills to the levels described in the dev blog will be at. If this isn't the case, then please post your source.

Quoted from the blog: "Characters will start the game with the same 400,000 skill points as they do now and will be able to train freely within the Alpha list."

Was wondering how this will work since I do have a toon that could go f2p but she is already over 5m sp but she isn't trained into her racial ships and guns. So does she not get to train anymore or can I train those up as well and she will have more than 5m sp?

Just curious...

You cannot train anymore, if you have more than 5M SP.

Whatever skills you have that are in the list of Alpha skills for your character race will be able to function, unlocking those ships and modules for you to the levels allowed for an Alpha character.

If you haven't trained your racial ships, you have the following options:

1. Train the racial skills now, if you're still subscribed.

2. Create an Alpha alt on the account, and play that. You get the benefit of starting with 400k skillpoints, and the new tutorial which should give you a bunch of skills, a mini-injector, and a bunch of ships. After training, this Alpha alt will function at the level of an Alpha. By comparison, your old characters will also function at the level of an Alpha, regardless of how trained they are.

3. Use skill injectors to inject the racial skills that you're missing. You likely already have all the support skills (armor, shields, etc.), so you'll probably just need your racial ships and your racial weapons that you're missing. Should be only 1, maybe 2 injectors.

4. Go Omega for a month, train the racial skills, then go back to Alpha. (or, since it'll be almost Christmas / New Year when the one month ends, take advantage of CCP's New Year discounts for subscriptions or PLEX, to continue Omega for a bit and to train some more skills).

This is incorrect. Any skills trained outside of your race's skills listed on the dev log will be locked out. With this being said though, you can still train any skills that are within the Alpha clone list of your chosen race. There is no 5 mil skill cap, I'm not sure where people have gotten this idea.

It was said by CCP, that those alpha skills add up to roughly 5 Mio SPs. It was not said, this will be the limit.

Alpha skills add up to about 7.4M SP. You are capped at 5M SP. This can be a problem if you are a Minmatar character and trained 6M SP into flying Amarr ships before your trial or subscription lapsed :D

You can subscribe (i.e.: upgrade to Omega clone) and train 100M SP with skills to fly every races' ships competently. Then when your subscription lapses you fall back to the 7.4M-or-so SP allowed by your Alpha clone (limited to ships and weapons of your race).
