EVE Launcher inifinite update loop

I am currently on launcher 1069348
Launcher is trying to install 1086194:

1 - Launcher says "downloading new launcher version"
2 - Launcher ask for install downloaded update
3 - Launcher restart, wait for some time, and then launcher restart
4 - after restart it says: "I have downloaded 1086194 and want to install"
so it goes to step 3 and it is infinite loop.

I've run verification of shared cache, and then restarted the launcher - same loop from step 1
I"ve run "fix permission of cached folder" and restarted the launcher - same loop from step 1

I need help on resolving this, please.

It may be that the launcher does not shut down properly, preventing the updater from overwriting the evelauncher.exe file.

You can either reinstall the latest version of the launcher, or do the following:

Open up taskmanager.
Start the launcher
When it says the download is done and wants to install, press OK
In the taskmanager, kill the evelauncher.exe process

This should allow the update process to finish properly.

Thanks for the answer.

I've open task managter and noticed, that the process did terminated itself when I clicked on OK. However, the problem persists.

I would love to re-install LAUNCHER.

However, when I downloaded new launcher, it seems that the only option is to re-download and re-install the whole game. Is that correct? Is there option to re-install only launcher without re-downloading entire game?

On Windows 10 you may need to look at the detailed view - the window may close, removing the process from the main list, but the process still lingers in the detailed view.

I had the same issue. Found there was another extra launcher process on at the same time for some reason(sort them by name). Terminating both of them worked, also was wondering why the launcher had forgotten my accounts, it was the duplicate that had "forgotten" them.
After i started the launcher up again the accounts were there again and the update finished without the loop.

Same issue, endless update loop.
No second process present.
No help killing active process.

Random killing of evelauncher processes from "details" tab in win10 task manager probabely updated my launcher or at least allowed my game to start.


Jesus.. CCP. Work on this launcher or get rid of it. It randomly loses stored accounts, randomly loops when updating. I would not show such crappy app to the public.

this issue is not preventing me from playing: on update dialog I click Cancel and it allow me to use the launcher and play the game.

I could not get the launcher to work this morning. I figured it would be fixed by now. I log in and there is a black square there in the area of the launcher where my accounts would normally appear.

I am unable to play. I do not mind if it is going to be fixed, but the ways to fix it so far do not work for me, though I admit I am no computer guru. I do not think I should have to hire a computer tech to play this game.

I have restarted many times. Nothing seems to work. Not sure how to get "detailed view", and I do have windows 10 64gb OS.


UPDATE: Well I finally got it fixed. I had to learn a little more about computer stuff, which is probably good. And after trying all that was suggested, I did get it working. I am sure those of your customers who are more computer and programming savvy than myself had little trouble.

But honestly developers, my paying clients do not pay me to tell them how to correct my product after I put it out there. They would get another attorney in a heartbeat if I made them correct the legal documents I was paid to draft for them. They expect pretty high caliber service from me, and I take pride in providing that quality product. I am sure you guys do as well. It must sting to put this launcher out and then have to rely on telling your customers what to fix to make it work.

Yep, I'm still stuck too. Cannot play on my Windows 7 laptop because of this issue.

The reason it's stuck in a update loop is that Evelauncher.exe is not closing so the launcher is never able to update the file. There are couple of ways to resolve this issue.

First solution. Open task manager and make sure there are No Evelauncher.exe in the process list. Start the launcher, the launcher will ask to update. Click ok, the window will close but Evelauncher.exe will still be in the process list. Select it and click end task. Then wait for the Evelauncher.exe to start up again and the issue should be resolved.

The second solution is to uninstall EVE and then reinstall it. When you install EVE from the installation page you are only installing the launcher. The launcher then installs the game. However if the shared cache folder already exists on the computer the launcher should detect it and it should use that rather then download the game again.

None of these workarounds are helping. Still in an update loop, still cannot play the game. My bug report has not been touched.

I havbe fully uninstall eve. Made sure there are nothing left behind.
Re-Installed it .
Now I have the same issue: launcher got updates and trying to update in circle.

P.S. considering low quality of last patch, and really bad changes, I even don't know if I want to continue resolving all these issues or just get back to for World of Tanks.
