Hello ,

I have a question about ISK loans...

Since i'm not a PVP-type , i'm lookin to get into Trading.
The problem is i lack the ISK to get off on a decent start.

I often read here about people asking for a loan, usually providing collatoral...

Is it even possible to loan some ISK without having collatoral ?

i don't want to trade for peanuts

anyone can enlighten me on this matter ?

What are the possibilities for someone just starting in trading ( i trained the nessecary skills )

thanks for any advise given

regards

Try installing jEveAssets and you may find some hidden treasures that you can use as collateral or outright sell.

People are unlikely to loan without collateral (unless they are real life friends) since they nave no assurance of getting paid back. For trading you basically have 2 choices:
- earn your seed capital in game doing other things - a few hours mining will get you 100 million and that's enough to get started.
- purchase PLEX from CCP with real life money and sell it in game for ISK.

Watch your margins! If you trade in an NPC station, CCP will skim at least 3% off the top on each transaction in brokerage/taxes. Don't look at high volume, low margin trades until you understand the market and have a few billion in working capital.

Manufacturing is another way to play the market and can be more profitable since you control more links in the value chain.

Actually this ... as a (station) trader you buy low and sell when the price is high, as a producer you wait until the price is high and then produce cheap and sell. But it's more skill intensive, than pure trade. Try also regional trade of stuff (for example buy cheap in Jita, sell high elsewhere far away).

I'm my own NPC alt.

This ^

I started with an initial capital of ~50mil and in less than 2 months I now have ~6bil. Do missions, mine, or beg in chat, but 50mil is not a difficult amount of ISK to generate.

Train these skills: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/TRADE101_-_Introduction_to_Trading#Trade_skills

Read this: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/TRADE102_-_Station_Trading

And my tip: Don't invest more than 1% of your capital in any single order.

Have fun :)

Apart from what was said above. When I started my main trader (I now have several), she just had about 50mill from running distribution missions while trade skills were training. The distribution missions were partly to raise some seed capital as I wanted to start from scratch, and partly to get Emperor Family standings.

There's nothing wrong with starting out with a low capital, trading is constant learning and the lessons from paddling in the shallow end of the pool apply just as well to when you are throwing around billions. Not only that, it's better to make mistakes when you haven't much to lose.

A few tips

I did receive a loan on my first try without collateral, it is possible. But you have try to prove you're not going to walk with the money.

Do the activity you're going to be using the loan for for a few weeks or a month. Learn what you're doing, make some profit. Prove you're going to be able to make a profit off of your loan. And while you're doing this...

  • Keep logs of your income/day
  • Have notes of the things you're doing day to day
  • Just log as many things which pertain to what you're doing

Then make an official loan request post. In this, you're going to want...

  • A well thought out business plan as the body of your loan request. Look up other successful loan requests, or even try and find mine way back. I'll link it at the bottom.
  • Outline things like possible risks, profit potential, level of activity required to keep it up. They won't fill your loan if they think you're going to get bored or burned out of that activity in a week.
  • Tell investors that they can eve mail you for information and your api. When they do, give them your api and any google documents/spreadsheets with your logs on them so that they can see them.
  • Don't ask too much, have decent percent but not huge. I think mine was like 2b for 12% for one month or something like that. And don't ask a disproportionate amount. Get 2b before asking for 2b. You're not gambling other's money you're using it for leverage.

That's my old loan request. Prove you're not going to walk with the money, prove you're going to be able to profit using theirs, and you should have a decent chance. Good luck!
