Considering it's Kim and there are "slave" and "Gallente" in one sentence I think we are talking about a different kind of "slavery".

The apocalypse is not bad. It's just a phenomenon, that has both bad and good sides. Everyone dies, poverty ended.

See how silly that sounds? That's what it sounds like to me when people talk about slavery's "good" side. There is nothing slavery does that cannot be done more efficiently using other means that are more agreeable to the enslaved party.

• There are people in the Federation that have the formal right to leave: But there is no practical possibility for them to leave, mostly for economic reasons.
• Slaves - in the Empire - do have rights and they do have rights that are guaranteed by Scriptural as well as non-Scriptural imperial law, thus rights that their owners can't take away on a whim. Yes, slaves do lack certain rights of freedom your usual subject of the Empire or the usual citizen of the Federation posesses, but both Empire and Federation make use of revoking those rights from certain people within their borders.
• Many employees have no real negotiating position at all in the Federation.
• There are prisons in the Federation where penal work is done. Arbitrary whippings executions and such happen as oftentimes there as to slaves in the Empire - or maybe even more often than to slaves in the Empire, as slaves are oftentimes much better off than your usual federal in-mate - or lower-class citizen for the matter.
• Does a prisoner in the Federation get severance pay if he "wants to leave prison"? I highly doubt it. I rather think they are made examples off to other prisoners.

Which institution? The institution of employment or slavery? I think very few people from the Federation have intimate experience with the institution of slavery. They know of it from cheap holo flicks and propaganda videos. Or if they have intimate experience it's derived from the illegal slavery which is practiced e.g. in the pleasure hubs of the Federation. Yes, that is a slavery problem! This form of slavery, which only serves the material and comercial needs of the criminal slaver, is an abomination indeed. It's quite a different animal from slavery as practiced in the Empire, though.

And the indignation about imperial slavery neither formally nor practically offering those freedoms which all federal citizens - except for prisoners, of course, but that's entirely ignored, even though a lot of slavery in the Empire is penal slavery - formally enjoy is pure hyprocrisy, as long as so many federal citizens enjoy these only on paper, while in reality they struggle so hard to meet their basic needs that those abstract rights are so far away from the reality of their daily life that big corporations can treat them oftentimes just as slaves - with the exception that they don't even pay enough as to provide people sufficently with food, housing, education, health care, or even opportunity for advancement.

Start putting your own house in order before criticising others. But oh no, it's so much comfier to ignore your own shortcomings by making out failings in others...

Do you care to have an actual discussion of merits or flaws? Because I don't consider these to be an issue of "no matter". Rather, that's the only thing that matters to me, as an expatriate, I have no particular investment in the Federation. So if you have some sort of actual argument based on merits or flaws, please make it. Perhaps you are simply insisting your way is right because it's your way, but I am not.
