I hate to be a downer, but the user-list isn't going to even get close to space.

Weather balloons go up to about 30-35 km (about 20 miles)

The edge of space however lies at 100km (about 62 miles)

Now if you attached a rocket to the balloon....Twisted

Nope, not wasted.

Looking for the right way to blossom? Yes. We will make sure we do Avatars the right way for EVE and will make sure we do it in a way that doesn't detract from everything else we have already in game.

Anyway 30,000 meters is well into the stratosphere, enough to see stars and the Earth curving below. It's not space but it's well above the nitrogen soup.

Oh, so YOU"RE the reason ccp has started to get their act together, to hopefully become quality competition with other MMORPG games, in regard to overall graphics and less patches due to less bugs. Big smile

Crucible is the FIRST edition of eve that Ive seen have the least ammount of bugs on first release as well as the first Ive seen to address the graphics problems. your graphics were crap before cruicible; they were something an amateur studio would produce 12 years ago.

finally, eve is starting to become more realistic; can we, however, get a FULL realistic perspective, compared to direct x 11 games that are currently out. We need solar flares, planets orbiting but a way for people to still have "static" bookmarks in relation to customs offices and planets, etc. Ever heard of offsets for variables in the programming? Big smile

We need comets, shooting stars, supernovas along with a vast variety of other improvements.

Good luck with your job Unisex. Btw what will become of Zulu?
Also I love your theme - Guessing it will include Hisec declarations of war, low-sec warfare including bounties and Factional Warfare and a tweak on making sovereignity more available for smaller corporations/alliances...
Will be fun to watch

PS. Dammit I was hoping for a pod to be slung into the surface of Mars from a satelite or something, but sounds cool anyway...

Look at the photo and tell me it doesn't look like space. The sky is black = it looks like space = it is space

Saw a similar launch on.... TV (won't spoil the surprise by linking footage) recently and it was one of the coolest things. Very fitting for EVE

Can't say I'm sorry to see you go Zulu, this devblog still makes me cringe and rage in equal measure even now.

The things that happened during the summer of this year were the result of a corporate vision, not the result of one individual, however complicit. Therefore Zulu, I wish you the best, and I bear no hard feelings.

Unifex, congratulations on the new position. I also wish you the best, and I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of CCP's renewed direction and vision for Eve.

Also, I love the balloon idea. I always wanted to go into space, and at least this way I won't have to risk ridding a rocket with tons of high explosives beneath me. Lol

The future of Eve is bright people, rejoice in it!

In other words.

The door will open when there's something useful behind it.

Which I for one find quite reasonable.

If we could step through it now, we'd only get our out-of-pod bodies biomassed since there's nothing there except some remaining toxic corporate dream gas ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Provided I don't have to spend real money to stock my 'establishment' with spirits and exotic dancers I'm good.

nice to have a real player in the team.

just that i was wondering what was/is the name of you in game char that you have played.
that I would go and shoot it up (much TwistedRoll )
and getting the new year off a great start by having a ccp member corpse would not happen to much. lol

on another note I do hear when ccp whent out and got blown to bits the ccp corpse prices were very high. :P

I approve of this new WAR theme and/or service.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I hope not, insofar as the whole Walking in Stations project. Just because part of it was rushed forward in an attempt to extract as much money from the cash cow that is CCP's customers, doesn't mean the concept is bad. It just needs to be completed to a level that blows us away and delivers real content, the lack of which was the problem with CQ in Incarna.

Exactly. The execution was the problem. Putting more"there" into the game can vastly improve immersion, but CQ as it stands is a pointless cycle hog. It would be a mistake to condemn the entire WiS concept simply because it was introduced so poorly. Perhaps the change in leadership will result in a more focused effort.

Remember that PvP is by its nature a limited market. If done correctly, WiS and similar "carebear" concepts can vastly increase the player base by attracting players with different interests, and that's good for the long-term future of EVE.
