What ship to take into combat sites ?

I've been thinking about giving high sec combat sites a try. What kinds of ships can complete which kinds of site ?

T3s are too expensive for me to buy one just to try out combat sites. I'm looking at T1/T2 hulls.

If you don't have scanning alt then Stratios is probably best ship for that. If you dont want to scan too much but prefer running anomalies in hope of getting escalation then I would say Confessor if you want to actively play and Orthrus for "load FOF press F1" play. Big smile

T3 destroyers don't run much more than assault frigates, are vastly more capable, and will make pretty short work of most high sec exploration content. There are a few things you'd probably want to be careful around, though it should be doable (vigil sites come to mind). Plus, they can usually fit a probe launcher without having to make any fitting compromise at all.

Or you can always run a Vexor or something.

I'd forgotten that T3 dessies were a thing.

I don't mind scanning, I just don't want to be switching ships. Mainly because I plan to be wandering around high sec whenever I get bored of the background nebula.

I've got 4 in all the scanning skills. Would sisters probes+launcher on a confessor be enough to scan down all high sec sites ?

I'll try and figure out a fit for a confessor tomorrow.

Yea more than enough. You can also get few scanning implants to speed things up. They are not very expensive.

Here's the confessor build I'm thinking of:

[Confessor, High explorer]

Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Damage Control II
Small Armor Repairer II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

1MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

Sisters Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
[Empty High slot]

Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
Small Processor Overclocking Unit I

I also put together a Stratios fit:
[Stratios, High explorer]

Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

10MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

Sisters Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Vespa II x5
Hammerhead II x5
Hobgoblin II x5
Hornet II x5

Kinetic drones for when I'm up against NPCs that resist thermal and EM.

Both ships will be carrying a mobile depot and other armor hardners to switch around when necessary.

Did I do anything wrong with these builds ?

Any tips about when I should switch modes in the confessor ?

You do realize, that Stratios is a drone boat with no point to fit that many laser upgrades, do not you?
This is what you can use against Purity of the throne event NPC in high sec:
[Stratios, unour white]
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Damage Control II
Heat Sink II

50MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive
Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Extender II
Thermal Dissipation Field II
EM Ward Field II

Quad Modulated Light Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Small Tractor Beam II
Quad Modulated Light Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Quad Modulated Light Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Quad Modulated Light Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I
Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I
Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Infiltrator II x5

Swap resists, drones for other anomalies; replace tractor beam for sister core probe launcher if you are going to look for combat signatures. Kinetic light/medium drones usually not worth using since they do least damage. Use thermal drones for gurista / serpantis or explosive drones for angel cartel. If you are not ready with the high sec combat anomaly (not signature) before your battleship size passive shield tank isover you should consider active armor tank approach, but it will harm your time / isk effectivity.
