Eve on Tablet - Make Eve Usable with Touch Input

Back in 2009 when I stated playing eve I was thinking how cool would it have been to be able to have tactile input.

Now that I own a HP 608 Pro tablet, I can finally take Eve on the go and am even able to run two clients in split screen. The only problem is that without a Bluetooth mouse, it is pain to even switch skills. The tactile input reveals some weird presumptions made while designing the UI. It requires a hover before you can actually click anything. I am able to start another char than I am tapping on from character selection screen. The one that had been focused on before wins. In-game, it gets less funny and more painful. You basically have to tap everything twice. And you must be quite precise or keep trying.

TL;DR

Would you guys fancy being able to take Eve on-the-go and play it anywhere on your tablet? Would you support fixing touch input for Eve to make it possible?

@CCP: Has anyone actually tried playing Eve using touch input?

CCP seems to be letting Eve rot on the vine. They're dumping all their wooooosh into that other game. The pittance of support their cash cow is able to garner isn't sufficient to provide a leap to functional/playable touch screen technology.

TL/DR - Be thankful for the truck load of ship skins that are keeping the game exciting and helping it evolve into the future.

Gorilla arms? Shouldn't you have developed Mandelbrot-Spiderlegs instead? I mean with the amount of data input/output areas, different buttons, shortcuts, module buttons, scrolling, menus, item manipulation in menus and in-space and the need for very accurate cursor placement for directional movement and target locking, two arms with ten fingers surely don't seem to be enough to do that as conveniently, quickly and accurately as with mouse and keyboard. Oops

There are some things that would work with touch (namely the new targeting with the ctrl frame targeting although that's quite inaccurate, the use of neocom buttons, the use of modules, because both are big enough to hit accurately with fingers, and the radial menu) but other things are plain impossible to use properly with the fatfingered touch control (namely the overview, market, right click menu, hitting the actions square, targeting exactly what you need to target, overheating, ammo switching, drone use, buttons all over the place and so on). All these things would need to get bigger, wider, taller or get different menus/data display options so that you see less information in the end, can do less with the same amount of clicks/strokes/finger moves than with a mouse. I am aware of position-based action prediction exists and if you do not hit a button 100 % perfect, the software can predict what you wanted to do in the first place; however, judging by the clunky path prediction in the right click menu, this is a big hit and miss and would cause another set of problems altogether.

In the end: No, I would not fancy to see EVE getting touch optimized. CCP is already incapable of maintaining EVE as it is, adding another layer of complexity to the mix will only do make matters worse exponentially. Once they have finished modernizing EVE and ironed out all the flaws, errors, glitches, malfunctions and finished all the half-finished features, then they can think about this kind of fancy.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.
