solo gas mining question

I am a newer character, and I want to attempt some gas mining in WH space. I don't want to put a lot of points into combat skills, since I'd rather focus on mining. What is the minimum class of combat vessel I could pilot in order to clear the frigates out of a C1 wormhole gas site, i.e. 5 sleeper frigates? I am thinking I could do it with a destroyer + kite; but all of the guides I have read say to use a battle cruiser. I really don't want to train up to BC. Can it be done with a kitey corax?

A T3 Destroyer should be able to blap them fairly quickly. You might also find some success with an Algos.

FYI: C1 gas sites in general aren't particularly lucrative to huff. Find a wormhole corp to join.

If you are a 'newer' character then you shouldnt be fking with Sleepers at all, especially if you dont want to train combat skills. Roll

Youd do way better spending some time training scanning/cloaky skills, learn to scan down the gas sites in C4-C6 space quickly/efficiently and ninja huff them. Learn to do this in a venture and you will be happy. Yah sure you will get murdered a few times but learn to do it well and the ISK you will make should more than cover a few t2 harvester fitted ventures. Then youll be more prone to doing things in Eve other than simply mining. This. Is also good.

Looks like the char that posted this may have been deleted? Name is not clickable.

But there wasn't really a good answer, I don't think.

The right way to figure this out is to use Rykki's wormhole guide here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17cNu8hxqJKqkkPnhDlIuJY-IT6ps7kTNCd3BEz0Bvqs/pubhtml#

You will need to look up the gas sig that you plan to run and make sure your ship can tank the stated amount of dps. The lower end ones are very low. Just a quick Pyfa fit check, it looks like the lower ends could be tanked by a well fitted t1 cruiser.

You're realy not going to want to go for C1 gas. The effort involved isn't worth it, unless you really like doing it. Get your scanning skills up to cut down you're time spent scanning, and train T2 harvestors. T2s are a huge improvement. You going to want c5-6, and shattered wormholes for the best isk. Look for vitals and instrumentals. C2 and 3s you can hit vast, bountiful, and I think minor sites for c72 and c32 gas which makes ok isk. If you really start to like it like I did, the Prospect is a nice upgrade to the venture. The covops cloak is really nice, and double the space for gas. Carry a mobile depot with a probe launcher and some probes. Just in case. Another thing if you go with the prospect is the endurance. Great for ninja ice mining. Mmmmmmmm dark glitter.

I'll echo what people said about low end gas. It's a job best left to an alt while you finish probing down everything else in the system on your main. Those sites are best left alone unless you live in the hole and just need the gas for personal use.

Consider that most things worth having in wspace aside from the pirate hacking anoms will require you to kill sleepers anyway, so you're going to need a fit capable of combating them if you want to do anything there.

Algos can clear low end sites with a little work, but if you plan on making a career out of wormholes without doing combat sites you're going to want to either train for t2 expedition frigs to ninja huff high end gas, or train a cloaky, combat capable hacking ship to clear and hack sleeper anoms like a t3 cruiser or SOE vessel.

Gas Harvesting V , Mining Frigatte IV (V) and a Venture is all you need to get big ISK out of WH gas.

Venture fit here: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Venture/Fittings (The "ninja gas harvester" one) With this setup you get 1500 to 2000 units of gas before the sleepers spawn.

Find an empty WH, Huff the best gas you find (check https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ore/gas.html) and get back to HS.

If you happen to be online on low population times just dump the gas at the next HS station and get back into the WHs. You can collect the gas later, use all the "save" time you get for high value gas huffing. Once the C5/C6 residents log back in the best gasses are out of reach again.

honestly the best idea is to join a corp of people that can do it for you. At least now you found yourself a corp too.

I read about jedi gas mining where u speed tank the sleepers.
I tried it in the high end gas sites but NOS made it impossible to stay on field for more then 5 sec.

Have anyone been able to speed tank those high end gas sites successfully?
