Eve client broken

Launcher seems OK, status Ready. Eve client starts with only one character portrait and no text. Selecting characters does nothing. Reproducible. Last successful login yesterday.


Edit: Fixed, see post 6 below.

lol at least you can get that far... i cant even get the game to start up i hit play and nothing happens....

I'm haveing the same problem, i hit play and it starts to load then black screen leading to nothing.

I'm having the same issue and have been for the last couple of days now. Actually ever since 118.8 was released.

I've tried reinstalling the Launcher, clearing my Cashe filess and making sure I have the latest graphics drivers for my system.

Nothing seems to work!

Here is the order so far:

Launcher started
accounted selected
Clicked on play button
black screen
wait for 5 mins to see if anything loads
die a little inside

I've tried several forums and I can't seem to see a fix for this!

Is there anyone out there that can help?

I am just in the process of re-installing thinking that could help, having the same black screen issues since 118.8

My last production line finished up yesterday CCPLS.

I submitted a bug report yesterday anyway if that helps...

Fixed:
'Settings' on Launcher > General tab > Shared Cache Settings > Reset and Verify buttons.

Verify took about half an hour.

Yeah i'm now on a fresh install, tried verifying, zero files corrupt. Same infinite black screen. Going to try a couple different drivers now, not too hopeful but might as well get all the 'turn it off and on again?' solutions out of the way before I submit a support ticket.

The frustrating thing for me is I was using the launcher just fine for months before they axed the exe workaround. And the moment it gets axed now I would quite badly need it. Only in CCP land -_-'

Update: Latest driver made no difference. However; I went into my C: drive to manually delete the shared cache and tq folder could not be deleted as it was being used by another program... but both launcher and client were no longer showing up on my task bar as I had closed them.

Task manager showed not one but two CCP exe processes running even though I had closed my launcher+client a while back. I thought I was having a eureka moment but alas, upon verifying, black screen of sadness.

I will one day be tellling my fellow AA members all about how CCP drove me to alcoholism.

Temporary(?) fix: After all that fuckery, switched to DX9. Loaded immediately. Hope that works for some other people as well. I suppose I can remove myself from the liver transplant list for the time being.
