In terms of official information from CCP, I can't think of a single occasion where it hasn't been posted on CCP's platform first and then just linked elsewhere.

There are conversations taking place exclusively on a third party site that should be taking place on official Eve Online forums as they had in the past.

This has lead to a portion of the player base being favored over those who choose not to use that site.

forums are a ghost town because any thread that has dissent in it gets insta locked faster than a svipul in Jita.

you might as well give up on the forums alltogether because its no longer an effective medium to voice concerns. Seems the devs might know this too.

Not sure how you interpret comments like this but suggestively sending people away from the forums as a source of information is a form of 'eliminating' them in my book.

This isn't the first thread where many pro-Redditors have suggested (sometimes casually, sometimes overtly) CCP shut down the forums.

he's telling the other poster that he thinks moderation is to severe. I still don't see anyone saying "eliminate the forums". You're own bias is coloring your perception of what is being said.

Show me where some explicitly said shut down these forums. I'm here every day and have been since 2009, I have yet to see that.

Saying that Reddit is a better place and thus it's understandable why the developers would prefer there to here (IMO it is, but then again I actually like Democracy Big smile ) is not the same thing as saying CCP should pull the plug on their own forums.

Yeah, Reddit is first name in quality. It reminds me of grandpa's homemade outhouse with the moon carved in the door.
Don't turn your nose up to domestic tech, buds. Just take the Sears catalogue in with you and you're in hog heaven.

You're taking me overly literally when my comments were directed toward the animosity that is shown towards these forums and those that do their best to run them.

I have never hidden my 'bias' and have repeatedly stated my preference for posting here but reading Reddit as well. Here the comments are moderated and ameliorated, which is actually showing these forums somewhat work, forcing many people to think before they post. Your comments to me of being 'wrong' about getting rid of the useless official forums doesn't apply to Reddit where almost every thread that even mentions these forums seems to bring out the haters that call for the ending of them/the ISD/etc, in some fashion or another. But yes, even this thread has a post that demonstrates the 'uselessness' of these forums in the opinion of someone so they are "going to Reddit" which was my point. I think you can find it on your own.

I actually don't care if people post here or on Reddit. Whatever blows your skirt.

What I do think is important is that CCP makes certain that all important official information is posted here. It's okay if a Dev has an opnion and posts it to Reddit, or even if they 'scoop' the official forums and post some new info there. As long as it makes it here, I'm fine with that. That's just people being people and it's why I read Reddit as well.

What I'm not fine with is people completely failing to understand why these forums exist and then trashing them here and on Reddit out of ignorance.

As clear as the summer sun as you are, that of course, won't make much difference to some who just aren't interested in any more than slam dunking someone in text on the internet. I know what you mean, and I'm sure this critic that's latched onto you like a leech in a bog does, too.

That other site gained popularity after certain rules were put into place here, and certain Individuals Swinging Digital-axes began enforcement. This is what makes CCP employees using that other site so egregious. Here we are slogging along making do with what we have (some enduring "suspensions" like school children) trying to make the best of the circumstances management has dealt us. Then, there go members of the SAME management, running to the alternative site there for the expressed purpose to avoid the rules we here are being forced to deal with.

Like I said originally, I can't abide disloyalty. To me, it's the ultimate, and unforgivable sin. I do hope those CCP employees are enjoying their spotlight over their, and are getting the likes they need to service their egos.
